Seven recent high school graduates, including a Federal Way student, will play softball for the Western Washington University Vikings beginning this fall.
Making up the 2014 class are first baseman/designated hitter Emily Benson from Kamiakin in Kennewick, infielder Megan Jewett-Chan from Todd Beamer in Federal Way, first baseman Katelyn McDonald from Arlington, utility player Sarah Morrow from Enumclaw, outfielder Carlie and shortstop Cylie Richards, twin sisters from Kamiakin, and pitcher/shortstop Makinlee Sellevold from Cascade in Everett.
Jewett-Chan received South Puget Sound League North Division Most Valuable Player accolades as a senior at Todd Beamer, receiving first-team Tacoma News Tribune All-Area, Federal Way Mirror All-City and SPSL honors, all for the second straight year. She helped the Titans reach the second round at the Class 4A state tournament, batting .515 with 39 runs batted in and 21 runs scored.
Jewett-Chan plans to major in kinesiology.
Her sister, Ryley, played softball at Highline College and is transferring to Western Washington from Central Washington University.
