Hannah Kiyohara — The 2010 Thomas Jefferson graduate is playing her freshman season at the University of Louisville. Kiyohara was the Mirror’s All-City Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010 before signing with the Kentucky school.
Kiyohara has started 26 games this season for the Cardinals as a true freshman. She is second on the team hitting .397 with 14 runs scored, one double and 16 RBIs.
Louisville is currently 30-10 on the season and 8-1 in the Big East Conference. They recently beat the 22nd-ranked Kentucky Wildcats, 6-0. Kiyohara was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI during a 12-5 win over Villanova last week. She is currently hitting .571 in Big East play, which is the fifth best in the conference and is third in runs scored with six.
She is playing right field and shortstop for the Cardinals. She was also 4 for 4 with two RBIs on Sunday during a 10-3 win over Pitt. Louisville has won 11-straight games
Christi Bruin — The 2010 Jefferson grad is playing her freshman season at New York University-Poly in Brooklyn, NY. The Blue Jays are currently 11-9 on the season after a weeklong trip to California. Bruin is a catcher and infielder.
Bruin was an All-City selection last year after leading TJ to the state tournament for the third time.
Sarah Petosa — The 2010 Todd Beamer graduate is playing her freshman season at Seattle University. The outfielder has started 25 of the Redhawks’ 26 games this season and is third on the team in hitting with a .282 batting average. She is leading the team with 17 runs scored and with four stolen bases in four attempts. Petosa also has three doubles, one home run and nine RBIs.
Seattle U is currently 4-22 overall. Petosa, who was a three-time All-City selection by the Mirror, finished 3 for 5 with a home run, two RBIs, two runs and a double during a March 6 loss to Southern Utah.
Taylor Winton — The 2010 Todd Beamer grad is currently player her freshman year at Marshall University in West Virginia. The catcher has played in 29 games this season, starting 10.
Winton is hitting .265 with two home runs, seven RBIs and a double for the Thundering Herd.
Marshall is currently 15-20 overall and 1-8 in Conference USA play. Winton was an All-City selection a season ago for Beamer.
Jessica Dickson — The 2009 Jefferson grad is currently pitching at Whitworth in Spokane. The left-handed sophomore is currently 2-2 on the season with a 7.00 ERA for the Pirates. She has started four games for Whitworth and struck out 19 in 24 innings of work. Whitworth is 11-13 on the season.
Dickson struck out a career-high nine while tossing a complete-game, four-hit shutout for the Pirates during a 5-0 win over George Fox last week.
Cassidy DeWaele — The TJ grad is playing her freshman season at Bellevue College. DeWaele was an All-City selection as a second baseman last year. Bellevue is 9-1 on the season.
Lindsey Bright — The Decatur graduate is playing her junior season at Fordham University in New York City. The Rams are currently 22-16 on the season and Bright is hitting .253 with 13 runs, one double and six RBIs. The speedy outfielder is leading the team with six stolen bases.
Last year, Bright and her Fordham teammates made the school’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament.
Last season, the 2008 Decatur grad started all 61 games for the Rams, who finished the season with a 49-12 overall record. Fordham was eliminated in the NCAA Regional Championship Game by the Oklahoma Sooners. Bright hit .282 last year with 36 runs and 15 stolen bases.
Bright was a three-time first-team, All-South Puget Sound League selection and four-time All-City selection in high school.
Erin Fujita — The 2009 Jefferson grad is playing outfield at Hawaii Pacific University. The sophomore is hitting .353 and has started 14 games this season. Fujita also has 10 runs, three doubles, one triple and six RBIs. Hawaii Pacific is 26-9 on the season.
Last year, the Sea Warriors won the school’s first NCAA Division II West Super Regional Title. Hawaii Pacific qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships. Last year, Fujita played in 34 games and hit .288 with nine runs and seven RBIs.
In high school, Fujita was a three-time, All-SPSL selection and earned second-team, All-State honors as a senior.
