Western Washington University men’s basketball point guard Morris Anderson ranks third nationally in steals and seventh in assists in this week’s NCAA Division II statistical report.

Anderson, a junior from Federal Way High School, is averaging 3.4 steals per game and 6.8 assists. If he finished the season with those averages, they would both be the second-highest in school history.

Anderson, who is scoring 12.7 points per game, has averaged 19.7 points over the last three games, scoring 30, the most by a Viking this season, in an 83-68 win at Northwest Nazarene last Thursday. In that contest, he connected on 11-of-17 field goals, hitting 6-of-8 3-pointers. Western is currently 10-3 on the season.

During that three-game stretch, Anderson has shot 61.8 percent from the floor, connecting on 21-of-34 attempts. In the season’s first 10 games, he was shooting just 35.1 percent (34-of-97) from the field.

Anderson sat out last season after being a first-team Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Western Region all-star as a sophomore at Highline CC during the 2006-07 campaign. That year, he helped the Thunderbirds to a 21-9 record, the region co-championship and quarterfinals at the NWAACC tournament, losing to eventual champion Clackamas CC 85-84 in double overtime.

Aaron Broussard — The 2008 Federal Way High School grad has played in all 17 games for the Seattle University Redhawks and is averaging 5.2 points and 3.8 rebonds a game. The Redhawks are 11-6 overall. Broussard notched his first career double-double Sunday during a 78-59 win over Puerto Rico-Bayamon, also hitting 7-of-9 field goal attempts to score 14 points to go along with 14 rebounds and three steals.

Marques Hollins — The 2007 Federal Way grad has played in two gamse at Seattle University during the season. The guard played nine minutes and has one rebound.

Terrell Smith — The 2007 Federal Way High School grad has started 10 games this year at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. Smith is averaging 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds a game. Pacific is 10-6 on the season. Smith, a 6-5 small forward, was named to the Big West Conference’s All-Freshman Team last year after averaging 2.4 points and two rebounds a game.

Pooh Williams — The Federal Way grad is averaging 5.2 points a game for the Utah State Aggies and has started 14 games. The 6-3 guard played in 29 games last season, averaging 2.4 points and one assist a game. Utah State is 17-1 on the season and 5-0 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Aggies are currently

Salena Dickerson — The Federal Way grad is playing her sophomore season at Washington State. Dickerson transferred from Gonzaga University. This season, Dickerson has played in seven games and has two points and one rebound. The Cougars are 8-8 overall.

Dickerson, a 5-11 wing, appeared in 28 of the Cougars’ 30 games last season. She averaged 4.3 points and two rebounds a game.

Stedman Richardson and Dan Young — The pair are playing at Highline Community College. Richardson, a Decatur grad, is a sophomore guard and Young, a Federal Way grad, is a freshman forward. Highline is currently 10-6 on the season. Young had 14 points and 17 rebounds during a win over Green River on Monday. Richardson had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Mike Hunter and Shermarke Ibrahim — The Jefferson grads are playing their freshman seasons for Green River Community College. Hunter is a 6-1 guard and Ibrahim is a 6-4 wing. The Gators are 5-12 on the season.

JaRon Brown — The Decatur grad is playing his junior year at the University of Montana Western. Brown, 6-6, is a 2006 graduate of Decatur and played the last two seasons at Shoreline Community College, where he averaged 19 points, eight rebounds per game and 54 percent of his field goals. Brown is averaging 11.9 points a game and 3.4 rebounds. Montana Western is 8-10 overall.

Marcus Wright — The Federal Way grad Marcus Wright is playing his senior season at Evergreen State College in Olympia. Wright, a 6-3 guard, is averaging 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds. Evergreen State is currently 11-6.

Kalei Frank and Christine Kim — The twosome are playing their senior seasons at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore. Frank, a TJ grad, played two seasons at Tacoma Community College and Kim, a Decatur grad, played at Highline. Both are guards and started all 24 of Pacific’s games last year. This year, Frank is averaging 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds and Kim is averaging 4.9 points and 2.2 rebounds. Pacific is currently 3-10 on the season.

Nate Sanchez — The Federal Way grad is playing his senior season at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. The 6-8 Sanchez averaged 11.3 points and five rebounds last year. He is averaging 7.3 points and 2.9 rebounds a game. Westminster is currently 18-1 on the season.

Darious Walker — The 2008 Decatur grad, is currently playing at Tacoma Community College. The 6-5 forward was an All-SPSL first-teamer last year. Tacoma is 15-2 on the season and is currently ranked No. 3 in the NWAACC.

Chris Grove — The TJ grad is currently averaging 13.4 points and 8.1 rebonds for Pierce Community College. Pierce is 6-11 on the season.
