Matt Hart — The Beamer grad is currently playing at the University of Southern California after transferring from Santa Ana Community College. The infielder has started 16 games for the Trojans this season and is hitting .311 with six doubles, seven RBIs and eight runs. He also has three stolen bases. USC is currently 10-10 on the season.
Hart started his college career at Washington State before transferring to Santa Ana. Last year, he led the team with a .427 average in 46 games. He had 13 doubles, three home runs, 37 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. He also scored 51 runs. Hart was named to the Orange Empire Conference’s first team as an infielder.
Jason Summers — The 2006 TJ grad is currently playing at Western Illinois University. The catcher/first baseman played at Northern Iowa last year, but the school dropped its baseball program following the season. Summers, a senior, is hitting .354 with seven doubles, 12 RBIs and eight runs for the Leathernecks. Western Illinois is currently 4-11 on the season.
Summers played two seasons at South Mountain Community College in Arizona before transferring to Northern Iowa. Last year he hit .290 in 45 games with 10 doubles, one home run and 33 RBIs.
At South Mountain, Summers hit .342 with 30 RBIs as a sophomore.
Todd Muecklisch — The 2006 TJ grad is playing shortstop at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Ida., after two seasons at Tacoma Community College. The senior has started 12 games for the Warriors and is hitting .333 with two doubles, two triples, three home runs, nine RBIs and 15 runs. Lewis-Clark State is currently 18-2 on the season.
Last year, Muecklisch hit .385 in 17 games and had eight RBIs, 14 runs, two triples and one home run. He transferred to LC State from Tacoma Community College, where he hit .284 with five home runs, five doubles, a triple, 26 RBIs and 11 stolen bases as a sophomore.
Cole Bixenman — The Todd Beamer High School graduate is playing his junior season at Linfield College in McMinville, Ore. The catcher has started all 21 games at Linfield and is hitting .361 with a team-leading 12 doubles, 36 RBIs and 20 runs. Bixenman hit for the cycle on Saturday during a 20-0 win over Whitman. Linfield is currently 16-5 on the season.
Last year, Bixenman hit .383 on the season and led the Northwest Conference in RBIs with 53 in 40 games. Bixenman had nine home runs, seven doubles and scored 36 runs. Bixenman’s 53 RBIs ranked as the second-most in the history of Linfield baseball.
Kylle Ashton — The TJ grad is playing his sophomore season at Linfield. The outfielder has played in five games and has one hit and one RBI.
Justin Reed — The Decatur grad is a sophomore pitcher on the Central Washington University baseball team. Reed has pitched in four games and has an 11.57 earned-run average. Last year, he pitched in seven games and had a 12.19 ERA. He threw 10 1/3 innings and had two strikeouts. Central is currently 4-16 on the season.
Brad Carter — The 2007 Decatur High School grad is currently playing at Western Oregon. Carter is a right-handed pitcher and has appeared in five games and is 0-1 with a 5.59 ERA. Western Oregon is currently 10-11 on the season. Last year, Carter appeared in 10 games with a 3.00 ERA. He was 1-1 on the season.
Logan Capp — The Beamer grad is playing his junior year at Dickinson State University in North Dakota. Capp, a catcher, played the last two years at Gray’s Harbor College. Capp is hit .248 with 10 RBIs and 20 runs last year. Dickinson State is 8-4 on the season.
Andy Racus — The Federal Way grad is currently playing at Jamestown College in North Dakota. The catcher transferred after playing two seasons at Shoreline Community College. Jamestown is 3-1 on the year. Racus hit .333 with six RBIs and four runs last year at Shoreline.
Erik Church — The senior is playing at Jamestown College after two years at Shoreline Community College. The outfielder, who is a Jefferson grad, is joined on the Jamestown roster by left-handed pitcher Marcus Hudson, a Decatur grad.
Brock Gates — Gates, a Decatur grad, transferred to Pacific Lutheran University from Edmonds Community College after spending a year at the University of Washington.
The first baseman is rolling in the early season for the Pacific Lutheran University baseball team. Through 19 games, Gates his hitting .368 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs. He also has scored 23 runs and has five doubles. The Lutes have started the season with an 14-5 record.
