Cole Bixenman — The Todd Beamer High School graduate is excelling on the baseball field at Linfield College in McMinville, Ore. The sophomore catcher is hitting a .383 on the season and leading the Northwest Conference in RBIs with 53 in 40 games. Bixenman has nine home runs, seven doubles and scored 36 runs. Linfield is currently 28-12 on the season.
Bixenman’s 53 RBIs already rank as the second-most in the history of Linfield baseball. The record is held by Tommy Peterson, which was set in 2005.
Bixenman also started two games for the Linfield football team during the fall and played the second half against the University of Puget Sound. Linfield won all three games.
Todd Muecklisch — The 2006 TJ grad is playing shortstop at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Ida., after two seasons at Tacoma Community College. Muecklisch is currently hitting .375 in 16 games and has eight RBIs, 12 runs, two triples and one home run.
At Tacoma, he hit .284 with five home runs, five doubles, a triple, 26 RBIs and 11 stolen bases last year. Lewis-Clark State is currently 34-11 on the season.
Jason Summers — The 2006 TJ grad played two seasons at South Mountain Community College in Arizona and has since transferred to Northern Iowa University. This year, the catcher is hitting .297 in 36 games with eight doubles, one home run and 29 RBIs.
Northern Iowa is 16-24 on the season.
Northern Iowa will eliminate its baseball program after this season, a cost-cutting measure officials say will save the school about $400,000.
Ross Humes — The Decatur grad is playing his senior year on the Washington State University baseball team. Humes, a left-handed pitcher, has currently thrown 4 2/3 innings on the year and has a 0.00 ERA. Humes has suffered some arm problems during most of the season after a stellar career at Washington State.
Last year, Humes appeared in 23 games, including six starts. He was 4-4 with a team-leading six saves. As a sophomore, Humes made 25 appearances out of the bullpen and posted 3-3 record with 12 saves, 4.70 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 44 innings. The 12 saves set a Cougar single-season record.
The Cougars are 21-18 overall and 10-5 in the Pac-10 Conference.
Brady Kincannon — The Decatur grad is playing at Chemeteka Community College in Oregon. Kincannon, an infielder, is hitting .208 with nine RBIs in 28 games. Chemeteka is ssdafs on the season.
Brock Gates and Shane Elliot — Gates, a Decatur grad, transferred to Edmonds Community College after spending a year at the University of Washington. The first baseman is hitting .268 with 10 runs scored and 15 RBIs. Elliot is a freshman outfielder after graduating from Federal Way. Edmonds is currently 22-14 on the season.
Brad Carter — The 2007 Decatur High School grad is playing at Western Oregon. Carter is a right-handed pitcher has appeared in eight games with a 2.65 ERA. He is 1-0 on the season. Western Oregon is 29-11 overall.
Justin Reed and Justin Lee — Reed, a Decatur grad, is a freshman pitcher on the Central Washington University baseball team and Lee, a Beamer grad, is a freshman outfielder. Reed has pitched in seven games and has a 12.19 ERA. He has thrown 10 1/3 innings. Central is currently 15-27 on the season.
BA Garner — The Decatur grad is pitching for Hawaii Pacific after playing two years at Tacoma Community College. Garner is 1-1 on the season with a 2.04 ERA and has seven saves. Garner was Hawaii Pacific’s closer last year and finished with a team-high 10 saves.
Matt Hart — The Beamer grad is currently playing at Santa Ana Community College in California after transferring from Washington State. The infielder is leading the team is hitting at .429 in 39 games. He has nine doubles, three home runs, 32 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. He has also scored 44 runs. Santa Ana is currently 33-10 overall.
Logan Capp — The Beamer grad is a sophomore catcher at Gray’s Harbor College. Capp is hitting .246 with 10 RBIs and 18 runs. Gray’s Harbor is 8-28 on the year.
Rico Adams — The TJ grad is hitting .265 with 11 RBIs and 16 runs at Gray’s Harbor College. Adams is an outfielder.
Andy Racus — The Federal Way grad is playing his sophomore season at Shoreline Community College. The catcher is hitting .333 with six RBIs and four runs. Shoreline is 13-19 on the year.
Jacob Beers — The TJ grad is pitching at Gray’s Harbor College. Beers is 1-2 on the season with a 4.06 ERA in 31 innings of work.
Alex Bailey — The Decatur grad is pitching at Pierce College in Tacoma. Bailey is 0-1 with a 3.15 ERA in 26 2/3 innings. Pierce is 10-20 on the season.
Donny McConnaughey — The Federal Way grad is 0-1 on the season with a 3.00 ERA for Tacoma Community College. Tacoma is 16-13 on the season.
