Hannah Kiyohara and the University of Louisville softball team are putting up some very impressive numbers this season. The Thomas Jefferson High School graduate is playing her sophomore season for the Cardinals, who are ranked eighth in the nation and are 47-2 on the season.
Kiyohara is currently hitting .208 in 33 games this season with 14 runs, one double, one triple, one home run and 13 RBIs. She has started 24 games at shortstop, right field, second base and designated player.
The Cardinals have already clinched a berth into the Big East Conference Championship, which will take place May 10-12 at Notre Dame.
Last year, Kiyohara was named first-team, All-Big East Conference becoming the first true freshman in Louisville history to receive that honor. She hit .331 in 49 games and scored 19 runs with two doubles and 22 RBIs. Kiyohara was also named to the Athletic Director’s honor roll in the fall and spring and the Dean’s List and Red & Black Scholar in the fall.
Kiyohara was the Mirror’s All-City Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010 before signing with the Kentucky school.

Christi Bruin — The 2010 Jefferson grad recently finished her sophomore season at New York University-Poly in Brooklyn, NY. The Blue Jays finished the year 27-11. Bruin is a catcher and infielder and was recently named to the 2012 Skyline Conference First-Team after hitting .350 with 23 runs, 11 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 34 RBIs.
Sarah Petosa — The 2010 Todd Beamer graduate is playing her sophomore season at Seattle University. The outfielder has started all 42 of the Redhawks’ games this season and is leading the team in hitting with a .371 batting average. She has scored 20 runs with two doubles, a triple and 15 RBIs. Petosa has stole 10 bases for the 15-28 Redhawks.
Taylor Winton — The 2010 Todd Beamer grad is currently player her sophomore year at Marshall University in West Virginia. The catcher has played in 33 games this season, starting five. Winton is hitting .121 with one home run, eight RBIs and a double for the Thundering Herd.
Marshall is currently 31-20 overall and 12-9 in Conference USA play.
Lindsey Bright — The Decatur graduate is playing her senior season at Fordham University in New York City. The Rams are currently 30-20 on the season and Bright is leading the team with a .397 average with 18 runs, four doubles and five RBIs. The speedy outfielder is leading the team with eight stolen bases.
Last year, she started all 60 games and led the team with 13 steals. Bright was a three-time first-team, All-South Puget Sound League selection and four-time All-City selection in high school.
Erin Fujita — The 2009 Jefferson grad recently finished her junior season playing outfield at Hawaii Pacific University. Fujita hit .284 and started 40 games this season. Fujita also had 16 runs, five doubles, one triple and 15 RBIs. Hawaii Pacific finished 32-18 on the season in NCAA Division II.
In high school, Fujita was a three-time, All-SPSL selection and earned second-team, All-State honors as a senior.
Allie Crowe — The Jefferson grad recently finished her freshman year at Western Washington. The infielder played in 34 games, starting 15, and hit 200 with nine runs and two RBIs. Western finished the season 17-36.
Erin Slater — The Decatur grad played her freshman season at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. The first baseman started 35 games and hit .284 with nine runs, three doubles and eight RBIs. Macalester finished 20-18 on the season.
