Oregon State wrestler Kyle Bressler enters his senior season as one of the top performers in the nation. The Decatur High School graduate is the first wrestler at Oregon State to break into the national top-10 rankings since 2006. Bressler is currently ranked ninth at 184 pounds in the USA Today/NWCA/Intermat rankings.
Last season, Bressler won the Pac-10 Championship at 197 pounds after finishing 3-0 at the tournament. He advanced to his second consecutive NCAA National Championship meet and finished 2-2. He wrestled at 184 pounds in 2007 and 197 last year. He was also on the Pac-10 All-Academic first team and finished 19-12 on the season with two pins.
During his four-year career at Decatur High School, Bressler finished with a record of 117-6 with 70 pins. He won a pair of state championships his final two seasons and finished 40-0 with 26 pins as a senior.

Eric Johnson — The Decatur graduate is currently swimming at the University of Wisconsin as a senior. He qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-yard breaststroke and is one of Wisconsin’s top swimmers. Last year, Johnson set the University of Wisconsin record in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 54.03.
Tommy Cunningham — The Decatur High School graduate is currently swimming his freshman year at the University of Washington. He was a four-year letterwinner at Decatur and served as team captain one season. He led the Gators to a second in state his senior year and was named the team MVP. Cunningham has competed for King Aquatic Club under U.S. National Team coach Sean Hutchison since 1996 and swims the freestyle.
“Tommy can come in and add something to our team,” said Husky coach Whitney Hite. “He’s a hard worker and he’ll help us in the sprints quite a bit.”
David Bai — The Thomas Jefferson grad is swimming his junior year at the University of Washington. Last year, he was a Pac-10 All-Academic member and placed 16th in the 200 free and 20th in the 100 free at the Pac-10 Championships. Bai led the Raiders to the state championship.
Seamus Alger — The Decatur grad is swimming his junior year at Fresno Pacific University after transferring during the summer from the University of Utah. Last year at Utah, he placed fifth in the 200 fly (1:51.42), sixth in the 400 IM (4:01.01) and 16th in the 200 IM (1:54.58) at the Mountain West Championships and was named All-MWC in the 200 IM and 200 fly.
Amy Friedhoff — The Thomas Jefferson graduate is currently swimming her freshman season at San Jose State University. While at Jefferson, Friedhoff won a total of seven individual West Central District titles, four in the 500-yard freestyle and three in the 200 free. Friedhoff also has a pair of silver medals and four third-place finishes at the Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Meet.
San Jose State swims in the Western Athletic Conference against schools like Hawaii, Northern Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico State and Boise State. San Jose State finished fourth as a team at last years WAC Championships.
Spencer Kabelac — The 2008 Decatur grad is currently wrestling as a 149-pounder at Highline Community College. Kabelac finished fifth at the Class 4A State Wrestling Championships last year for the Gators.
Katie Matulic — The 2008 Decatur grad is swimming at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas as a freshman. She specializes in the butterly and was a four-year letterman at Decatur. She finished third in the state in the 200 individual medley in 2007 and finished second her senior year in 2008.
Stephen Sullivan — The Decatur grad is swimming his sophomore season at George Mason University in Washington, D.C. Last year, Sullivan finished second in the 400-yard individual medley at the Colonial Athletic Conference Meet. He was also sixth in the 200 IM and eighth in the 200 backstroke.
Bryant Bevers — The Federal Way grad is swimming his senior season at Seattle University. Bevers swam as a member of four relays at the NCAA Division II National Championship last year, including the school record-setting 200 medley relay team that had a time of 1:31.88. His 200 free relay team finished 15th at the championships.
