Aaron Broussard — Federal Way High School graduate Aaron Broussard is continuing to have an impressive junior season for the Seattle University basketball team. The 6-foot-5 forward finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds during the Redhawks’ 59-53 win over the University of Virginia Dec. 22 at John Paul Jones Arena in Virginia. It was Seattle U’s second victory over a major conference opponent on the road in as many years.

“I am really excited for how our guys competed and played throughout the night,” head coach Cameron Dollar said. “It’s special to go into an ACC venue and come out with a win. It’s always good for us to have external symbols that we are moving forward.”

Seattle University (5-10) will play again Jan. 2 against Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., beginning at 4 p.m. The next home game for the Redhawks is Thursday, Jan. 6, against Eastern Washington University starting at 7:10 p.m. at KeyArena at Seattle Center.

Last year, Broussard started 30 of Seattle’s 31 games, averaging 10.3 points and 5.1 rebounds a game. As a freshman, he averaged 6.7 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Isiah Umipig — The 2010 Federal Way High School graduate is playing his freshman season at Cal State Fullerton. The guard has played in all 12 of the Titans’ games so far this year, starting one. He is averaging 6.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists a game. Cal State Fullerton is 4-8 overall.

The 6-footer averaged 14.1 points a game for Federal Way last year. Umipig also led the South Puget Sound League in assists at 7.4 a game and shot an amazing 93.8 from the free-throw line during the regular season.

Cole Dickerson — The 2010 Federal Way grad is playing his freshman season at the University of San Francisco. The 6-foot-7 forward has played in 11 USF games and is averaging 2.7 points and 2.9 rebounds a game. The Dons are 4-8, including wins over Seattle U and Colorado.

During his senior year Dickerson was one of the most consistent players in the state after averaging 22.9 points and nine rebounds a game.

“From the first time I saw Cole play, I loved his feel for the game,” said USF head coach Rex Walters. “He has good size, can really shoot the basketball and has an advanced offensive understanding of the game. Cole can score a lot of different ways. He can post up, can shoot the three, can bounce it and get his own shot. He comes from a state championship program and Coach Collins has done a great job with him. His family is a basketball family.”

Michael Hale — The Federal Way graduate is playing his sophomore season at North Idaho College. The 5-foot-9 point guard was selected to the NJCAA All-American second team after averaging 11.7 points, 4.1 assists and 1.3 steals a game for the Cardinals as a freshman. North Idaho finished eighth at the NJCAA National Tournament. Hale was also a preseason first-team junior college All-American this year.

This season, North Idaho is 13-2 and Hale is leading the Cardinals in scoring at 17.3 points a game and 4.4 assists. North Idaho is currently the top-ranked junior college team in the nation.

Jordan McCloud — The 2010 Decatur High School graduate is currently red-shirting at North Idaho College. McCloud signed to play at Seattle University but is spending the next two years at North Idaho while earning his Associate of Arts degree. He will then have three years of basketball eligibility when he transfers to Seattle University in 2012.

McCloud was the Gators’ best post player last year and was a first-team, All-SPSL South Division selection. He averaged 16.8 points and 12 rebounds a game for Decatur and also shot 50 percent from the field.

Cam Schilling — The 2009 Decatur graduate is currently playing on the Pacific Lutheran basketball team. Schilling, a 6-foot-4 forward, has started all nine games for the Lutes this season and is averaging 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds a game. PLU is 5-4 on the season.

Eric Radford — The 2010 Thomas Jefferson grad is currently playing at the University of Redlands in California. The 6-foot-5 guard has played in five games for the 2-6 Bulldogs and is averaging 2.6 points a game. Redlands is 2-6 on the year.

Dan Young — The 6-foot-10 Federal Way grad is now playing at Western Washington after two seasons at Highline CC. The center has played in all nine games for the Vikings this season and is averaging 4.9 points and 2.9 rebounds a game. Western is 6-3 on the year.

Pooh Williams — The Federal Way grad is playing his senior season at Utah State. The 6-foot-4 guard has started 12 games and is averaging 9.5 points. Utah State is 11-2 on the year and has played in the NCAA Tournament the last two seasons.

Last year, Williams started 32 games and was named the Western Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year by The Sporting News. He finished the year averaging 8.7 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Jeffrey Forbes — The 2009 Federal Way High School grad is playing his sophomore season at Eastern Washington. The point guard has started 10 games this season and is averaging 12.3 points and 3.2 rebounds a game for the Eagles. Last year, Forbes averaged 10.5 points as a true freshman.

Eastern is currently 3-8 on the season, including a win over Seattle University.

Terrell Smith — The Federal Way grad is playing his senior season at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. The 6-foot-4 guard has started all 12 games this season for the Tigers and is averaging 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds. Pacific is 7-5 on the season.

“We expect big things from him this year,” said Pacific coach Bob Thomason. “If Terrell has a good year and really solidifies himself as a good player, I think that’s going to really help our team be successful.”

Kevin Davis — The 2010 Beamer graduate is playing this season at Tacoma Community College as a freshman. According to several reports, he will play at the University of Washington after getting his Associate of Arts degree at TCC. This year he is averaging 9 points and seven rebounds a game at TCC, who is 5-1 on the season.

Davis averaged 21.3 points per game and was held in single-digits just once last season at Beamer. Davis tallied eight points in a loss to Kentwood in a winner-to-state, loser-out game at districts. Davis also led the SPSL in rebounding for the second year in a row at 15.3 a game and blocked an amazing 6.6 shots a game. He was named the SPSL South Most Valuable Player.

Stedman Richardson — The Decatur grad is playing his senior season at Northwest University in Kirkland. The 6-foot-3 guard played two seasons at Highline CC.

Darious Walker — The Decatur grad is playing his first season at Northwest Nazarene. The 6-foot-6 junior transferred from Tacoma CC. He has started four games for Northwest Nazarene (4-5) and is averaging 7.3 points and 3.8 rebounds.

“Darious is very athletic and he can rebound it,” said head coach Tim Hills said, adding, “When he sets his mind to it, he can really defend you, but we need him to be more consistent doing that.”

Xavyr Moss — The 2009 Jefferson grad is playing at Pomona/Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif. The sophomore has started four games for the Sagehens and is leading the team by scoring 12.9 points a game. Pomona-Pitzer is 3-5 on the season.

Justin Lanier and Dakin Wanquist — Lanier, a 2010 TJ grad, and Wanquist, a 2008 Beamer grad, are both playing at Green River CC. Wanquist is averaging 9.14 points a game and Lanier is averaging 4.5 points. The Gators are 4-3 on the year

Robert Christopher — The 2010 Federal Way grad is playing his freshman season at Highline CC. The 6-5 forward is averaging 6.4 points and 3.5 rebounds a game for the Thunderbirds. Highline is 6-2 on the season.

Jordan Rawls and Anthony Williams — The two Decatur grads are currently playing at Peninsula College. Rawls is a 6-0 guard and Williams is a 6-3 forward. Peninsula is 3-3 on the year.

Cramer Doughty — The Jefferson grad is playing his sophomore season at Pierce College. He is a 6-3 guard and is averaging 7.9 points a game. Pierce is 7-3 on the year.
