The Federal Way boys finished in second place at the prestigious Eason Invitational track and field meet at Snohomish Veterans’ Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Skyline took home the title in the 44-team invitational with a total of 54 points. The Eagles finished with 46 points, ahead of third place Abbotsford (35), Sehome (33) and O’Dea (33).

Federal Way was led by the individual performances of Trenton Pinson and Robert Shelby, along with a pair of relay titles. Pinson, the state runner-up in both the 100 and 200 meters in track last spring, took first place in the 100 with a time of 10.93 seconds. Shelby won the 300 hurdles in a time of 39.58.

Pinson and Shelby were also a part of Federal Way’s first-place finishes in the 400 and 1,600 relays.

The Eagles set a meet and state-best season record in the 400 relay, covering the distance in 42.49, just 0.01 of a second better than the previous meet mark established by Spanaway Lake in 1999. Federal Way’s lineup consisted of Ezekiel McNeal, Maurice McNeal, Shelby and Pinson.

The same foursome also won the 1,600 relay in a meet-record of 3:23.0.

The Federal Way girls finished up fifth at the Eason Invitational. Olympia won the team title with 51 points, followed by Mount Si.

The Eagles got a second-place finish from Tiara Fuller in the 300 hurdles in a time of 47.32. Federal Way also finished in second in the 400 and 800 relays.

In other track action:

• The Todd Beamer girls ended up second at the 16-team South Kitsap Invitational in Port Orchard Saturday. South Kitsap won the team title with 126.2 points, compared to Beamer’s 89.6.

The Titans got a pair of individual victories from Emma Cortes during the meet. Cortes won the long jump with a leap of 16-5 1/2 and the triple jump at 33-5.

Beamer also got second-place finishes from Taylor Kartes in the 400 (1:01.14) and Sydney Rogalia in the 100 meters (13.29) and long jump (15-8 1/2).

The Titan boys ended up fifth at South Kitsap behind first-place Rogers. Beamer got second-place finishes from Bronson Martinez in the high jump (5-10) and Garth Ward in the 1,600 (4:35.0). The Titans also finished second in the distance medley (11:23.83).

• The Decatur girls got by Federal Way Thursday at Federal Way Memorial Stadium, 75-72. The Gators used their depth to outlast the Eagles. Decatur’s wins came from Joy Lintelmann in the 100 (12.6) and 800 (3:06.3), Tori Zellerhoff in the javelin (61-10) and 3,200 (12:55.2), Carly Carson in the high jump (5-0) and pole vault (9-6), Victoria Braun in the 300 hurdles (50.9) and Lindzy Debie in the shot put (33-11).

Federal Way’s wins were from Jamie Jones in the discus (76-9), Bianca Arizpe in the long jump (16-2 1/2) and 400 (1:02.3), Dyesha Belhumeur in the triple jump (33-5 3/4), Tiarra Fuller in the 100 hurdles (15.9) and 200 (26.4) and Jasmine Johnson in the 1,600 (5:25.7).

The Federal Way boys dominated Decatur Thursday, 87.5-48.5. The Eagles picked up wins from D’Londo Tucker in the high jump (6-0), Jarcy Suitor in the long jump (20-10), Robert Shelby in the 110 hurdles (14.7), Trenton Pinson in the 100 (11.1), Ezekiel McNeal in the 200 (22.6), Meron Simon in the 800 (1:58.0), Brandon Thornton in the 1,600 (4:39.0) and Deshawn Williams in the 3,200 (10:03.2).

Decatur’s wins came from Andrew Jowett in the discus (136-6), Jordan Wernet in the javelin (123-3), Tre Kelly in the triple jump (38-9), Cameron Warriner in the pole vault (11-6), Junior Choun in the 300 hurdles (43.7) and Tyrone Faulkner in the 400 (52.3).

• The Thomas Jefferson boys squeaked by Auburn Riverside, 74-71, in an SPSL battle Thursday. The Raiders got a pair of individual victories from Aaron Jeong in the 100 (11.48) and 200 (23.25). Other wins came from Mitchell Vlasenko in the discus (121-10), Keegan Giles in the javelin (144.6), Michael Sallee in the long jump (20-6.5), Matt Barner in the pole vault (13-0), Scott Sanford in the 300 hurdles (40.21) and Chase Braxmeyer in the 3,200 (9:48.71).

The TJ girls were beaten by Auburn Riverside Thursday, 88-72. The Raiders got a pair of wins from Kayla Adams in the shot put (43-5) and discus (116-5) and three wins from Lindsey Dahl in the triple jump (35-1/2), 100 hurdles (17.62) and 300 hurdles (50.09). The Raiders also got a win from Kendra Ansotigue in the javelin (110-10).
