TRACK AND FIELD: Eagles, Jefferson both sweep SPSL Central meets

The Federal Way Eagles track and field teams swept the Curtis Vikings Thursday in South Puget Sound League Central Division action. The boys beat the Vikings, 122-23, and the girls won 83-65.

On the boys’ side, the Eagles got two individual wins from Garrett Persinger in the 110-meter hurdles (16.21) and the 300 hurdles (41.73). Federal Way’s other wins came from Terrance Chambers in the 100 (11.76), Michael Tate in the 200 (22.70), Patrick Crews in the 400 (52.74), Meron Simon in the 800 (1:56.37), Kyle Willis in the 1,600 (4:35.93), Jordan Pulu in the shot put (47-3), Albert Havili in the discus (138-9), DJ Vollmer in the javelin (155-4), Nathan Jowett in the pole vault (12-6) and DJ May in the long jump (19-10 1/2).

On the girls’ side, the Eagles got three individual victories from Luaipou Lologo in the shot put (25-1), discus (99-5) and javelin (82-1) and a pair of wins from Jasmine Johnson in the 1,600 (5:16.41) and 800 (2:30.03) and Autumn Jackson in the 100 hurdles (17.89) and 300 hurdles (51.82).

Federal Way’s other wins came from Jaleecia Roland in the high jump (5-4) and Ta’Mara Richey in the long jump (17-4).

Beamer

The Titans had a pair of strong performances at the Bellevue Classic Saturday. The Beamer boys and girls both finished up in fifth place in the 36-team event.

The most impressive performance came from freshman Alanna Vann, who swept the girls’ 100 and 200 meter races Saturday. Vann won the 100 in a time of 12.46 and the 200 in 26.13.

On the boys’ side, junior Willie Roach finished second in the him with a leap of 6-4 and the Titans’ 4×100 relay team of Austin Hitchcock, Roach, Shawn Priggett and Dominique Maxie finished third (43.32).

Jefferson

The Raiders swept the Auburn Trojans Thursday in an SPSL Central dual meet. The TJ girls won 113-37 and the boys beat Auburn, 94-51.

On the girls’ side, Lindsey Dahl won the triple (35-5 1/2), javelin (118-4) and 300 hurdles (48.74) and Kayla Adams won the shot put (42-1 1/4) and discus (137-1). Nicolette Carnahan won both the long jump (16-7) and the 200 (26.83).

The Raiders’ other victories came from Bailey Warrior in the 100 (12.95), Vanessa Church in the 1,600 (5:36.31), Courtney Walker in the high jump (4-6) and Montana Pelligrini in the pole vault (10-0).

On the boys’ side, Aaron Jeong won the 100 (10.88) and 200 (23.12) and Kendall Green won the long jump (19-9 1/2) and 400 (53.68).

The Raiders also got victories from Oscar Iraheta in the 800 (2:02.47), Daryon James (16.86), Chase Braxmeyer in the 300 hurdles (42.65), Jefferson Aumua in the discus (116-0), Aunrie Davis in the high jump (5-10), Joshua Madden in the pole vault (9-6) and Yobel Mengistu in the triple jump (40-9).
