The Thomas Jefferson boys soccer team remained unbeaten in the South Puget Sound League North Division with a 3-0 shutout of the Kent-Meridian Royals Tuesday. The win moved the Raiders to 3-0-0 in the North and 3-1-1 overall.

Jefferson’s Miguel Toscano tallied the first goal of the game in the 34th minute on a pass from Chris Miller.

Senior Tyler Hanson made it 2-0 on a pass from his freshman brother, Chase, in the 62nd minute and Amos Nistrian took a pass from Zeke Nistrian in the 77th minute to finalize the score. Adam Duke and Chris Hicks combined on the shutout in goal for the Raiders.

Jefferson and Kentwood are the two lone unbeaten teams remaining in the SPSL North. The two teams played last night (after press time).

Federal Way, last year’s North Division champions, remained winless in league play with a 2-2 tie against Tahoma Tuesday. The Eagles (0-2-1, 1-3-1) picked up goals from Carter Brossard and Omar Cruz.

Track

The Todd Beamer track teams swept the powerful Curtis Vikings Monday. The Titan girls upended the Vikings, 72-69, and the Beamer boys won, 91-45.

The Titan girls won all three relays during the dual meet and also got individual wins from Irene Devera (100 and 300 hurdles), Krystal McCall (400) and Taylor Kartes (800).

The Beamer boys picked up wins from Duran Ward (100 and high jump), Justin Drayer (200), Sean Thomas (800), Ryan Eidsmoe (1,600), Anthony Hogan (110 and 300 hurdles), Josh Waller (long jump), Nico Cortez (pole vault) and Marty Fuller (151-5).

Fastpitch

In a battle between two state tournament teams from a season ago, the Kentlake Falcons and their ace pitcher, Felecia Harris, got the best of Jefferson Tuesday, 5-0.

Harris gave up seven hits, but the Raiders (1-3) couldn’t plate any runs. Kentlake tallied four runs in the second inning and had 12 hits to improve to 5-0 on the season. Tuesday’s game was the SPSL North opener for both teams.

Jefferson’s Sara Byrne finished 3-for-3 against Harris, who was the SPSL North Most Valuable Player a season ago.

Baseball

Kentlake (6-1) scored all three of their runs in the final two innings to beat Jefferson, 3-2, Tuesday in both teams’ SPSL North Division openers. Kentlake’s Marcus Evans hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 2-2 and Andy Enders followed with a solo homer in the seventh to win the game.

Jefferson (4-3) tallied single runs in the second and fifth. Jerett Hardy finished 3-for-4 and Derek Voigt was 3-for-3 with two stolen bases.
