Thomas Jefferson High School junior Whitney Lee was named the 4A girls Athlete of the Week by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association on Wednesday.
Lee carried her team to the West Central District Bowling Tournament title at Pacific Lanes on Jan. 27 with a score of 277. She had a perfect game going into the 10th frame and came within 10 pins of breaking the state record, according to a release from the WIAA.
Each week throughout the school year, the WIAA recognizes varsity athletes who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week based off of nominations. All varsity level students in good academic standing at their schools are eligible to receive the WIAA Athlete of the Week Award. Students may win the WIAA Athlete of the Week Award once during any given academic year.
