The Steel Lake Little League All-Star team came up a little short Thursday night at the 2010 District 10 Little League All Star Tournament for 11- and 12-year-olds at Auburn’s Sunset Park.
Auburn Little League beat Steel Lake to claim the district’s berth into the Washington State Little League Tournament.
Thursday’s win by Auburn was their second over Steel Lake during the District 10 double-elimination tournament. Auburn also beat Steel Lake Tuesday in the semifinals, forcing them into the loser’s bracket, where they beat Bonney Lake-Sumner Little League Wednesday to earn the berth in the championship. Steel Lake beat South Hill in their opener on Saturday and downed Kent in the quarterfinals on Sunday before losing to Auburn the first time.
The District 10 Little League Tournament included all nine teams from Federal Way, Kent, Bonney Lake, Puyallup and Northeast Tacoma. The tournament ultimately culminates at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., in August.
The 2010 Washington Little League State Tournament will be played at Smith-Murray Park in Elma starting July 24.
The Steel Lake Little League team included Brycen Allen, Mason DelaCruz, James Fitch, Christian Jones, Ethan Phelps, Jalen Prather, Matthew Roybal, Garret San Luis, Alex Sommerfield, Ty Sonnenfeld, Gabe Togia, Jaret Wick and Michael Ziccarelli.
Federal Way National lost Monday night in the loser’s bracket to Bonney Lake-Sumner, ending their season. National won its opener over Soundview on Friday and beat Bonney Lake-Sumner on Saturday before losing to Auburn Sunday morning to drop into the loser’s bracket at the tournament.
The Federal Way National team included Kaden Jacobs, Andrew Ellingson, Tanner Knapp, Jacob Barden, Mitchell Grant, Sean Kim, Brady Robic, Tyler Swanson, JJ Asinas, Jake Perdue and Tyler Sheedy. The team is managed by Tim Robbins and coached by Brandon Robbins.
Federal Way American was eliminated after losing two-straight games at the District 10 Tournament.
Federal Way American’s roster included Ben Koler, Jeffrey Cochran, Bridger Armstrong, D’Jimon Jones, Michael Sellers, Edwin Arciaga, Czaralle Gallapon, Calvin Turchin, Dawson Bakker and Lawrence Tokioka. The team is managed by Lance Koler and coached by Mike Cochran.
