The Todd Beamer High School Dance Team will hosting Beamer Breakdown V on Jan. 18 and 19. Both performances will start at 7 p.m. in the school’s Great Hall. Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for adults and can be purchased at the door.
The Beamer Dance Team will be showcasing their skills in jazz, hip hop, ballet and other styles of dance. This performance is the team’s only major fundraiser during the year.
In addition to the Titan dancers, the Western Washington University Hip Hop Team, the University of Washington Dance Team, Illahee Middle School Dance and the Pacific Northwest Ballroom Dance Company will be performing.

• The Federal Way Boys and Girls Club is currently enrolling kids in kindergarten through eighth grade for 2008 Winter Hoops Basketball. The deadline for registration is Jan. 13. Late registration will be accepted on a space-available basis.
Registration can be done online at www.fw-bgc.org or in person at the Club, 30815 8th Ave. S. in Federal Way.
Teams are formed by local school and/or area. The divisions are divided into first and second-grade combined, third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, sixth grade and 7th/8th combined. The season runs from Jan. 15 to March 15.
The kindergarten clinic is held on Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m. beginning Feb. 2. Games are played at the Boys and Girls Club, EX3 and local middle schools.
The program costs $55 for the kindergarten clinic, $60 for grades 1-5, $65 for grades 6-8, (plus current $20 Club membership fee).

• The Pacific Waves Synchronized Swimming Team is hosting introduction lessons for adults and children.
Classes are held Saturday’s at the Federal Way Community Center Pool from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The first session is Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26th and the second session will run Feb. 2 through Feb. 23.
Pacific Waves instructors will introduce and teach the basic fundamentals of synchronized swimming. The last Saturday of each session, the class will perform in a mini water show to demonstrate their progress.

• Federal Way Girls Softball is looking for players ages 8 to 12 (age as of Jan. 1, 2008) for the Sudden Impact Girls Fastpitch teams for the 2008 season. The teams feature ASA Junior Olympic Affiliation, pitching and catching instructors for private lessons by the University of Washington, Pacific Lutheran University and Kennedy High School players/coaches, Practices at Decatur High School and lots of local play, including hosting the Sudden Impact Invitational Tournament at Celebration Park. The older girls on the 12-under team play various weekend tournaments, mostly in the Seattle-Tacoma area. The younger girls on the 10U team develop their skills in recreational league play. No previous fastpitch experience required. Indoor practices begin this month.

• Pierce County Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the Lakewood Winter Club, is presenting its 10th annual Ice Show: Reflections on Ice — Magical Memories.
The Sprinker Recreation Center’s Ice Arena, 14824 S C St, in Parkland, will be transformed into a theater for the five performances, Feb. 8-10. With a cast of nearly 100 local skaters and guest performer Jozef Sabovcik, this show rivals those of national touring companies. • Registration for the 2008 Greater Federal Way Area Little League baseball season will be held at The Commons at Federal Way on Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Jan. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m., and Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Greater Federal Way area boys and girls ages 4 to 18 are eligible to enroll to play.
At least one parent or legal guardian must be present, with three proofs of residence, and an original or state-certified copy of the child’s birth certificate. The documents will be inspected and returned at registration.
All three Federal Way leagues — Federal Way American, Federal Way National and Steel Lake — will have representation to answer all your questions concerning Little League.

• The Federal Way United Soccer Club is holding a Winter Soccerfest on Dec. 29. All Under-9 and 10-year-old players are invited to attend. There will be soccer skills and games and the opportunity to meet program coaches, players, and Rob Walker, director of coaching. Walker will be administering the event with his coaching staff. Each player will receive a free T-shirt. Donations of canned goods are encouraged – all donations will be given to the Federal Way Food Bank. The event will occur at Karl Grosch Field at Steel Lake Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Sign-in will begin at 10:45 a.m.
