A pair of Federal Way girls soccer teams will play for state titles this weekend in the Washington Youth Soccer Recreational Cup 2010 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
The under-13 Federal Way United Lightning ‘97 McLarty team and the U-11 Federal Way United Lightning ‘99 Panthers dominated play last weekend at the state semifinals in Shelton. Both teams won all three of their games to advance to the state finals.
The FWU Lightning ‘97 McLarty team will play for the state championship at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Starfire on Field 2 against the CBSC Falcons. The FWU Lightning ‘99 Panthers will play at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Starfire on Field 9.
With more than 450 teams participating, the Recreational Cup is Washington Youth Soccer’s only state recreational tournament.
