SPORTS BRIEF: TJ’s Kiel Hicks hosting piano concert to raise money for karate world championships

Thomas Jefferson student and United States karate champion Kiel Hicks is hosting a solo piano concert fundraising event at 4 p.m. March 23 at Roy’s Place Studios and Recital Hall in Lynnwood. The studio is at 4926 196th St. SW.

Thomas Jefferson student and United States karate champion Kiel Hicks is hosting a solo piano concert fundraising event at 4 p.m. March 23 at Roy’s Place Studios and Recital Hall in Lynnwood. The studio is at 4926 196th St. SW.

The event is being used to cover Hicks’ U.S. Karate Team travel and competition cost to the World Championships in Spain. Aside from being a world-level karate athlete, Hicks is also an accomplished pianist.

Hicks recently won a gold and silver medal at the 2012 Junior Pan-American Games in Mexico. Hicks qualified by winning two individual events by winning titles in July 2012 at the United States National Championships and Team Trials.
