Sports Brief: Pattison’s West roller skaters bring home national medals

Federal Way’s Zachary Sagiao swept all three distances at the 2011 United States Indoor National Speedskating Championships to win an overall gold medal in the Sophomore Men’s Division in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Federal Way’s Zachary Sagiao swept all three distances at the 2011 United States Indoor National Speedskating Championships to win an overall gold medal in the Sophomore Men’s Division in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Sagiao skates for the Pattison’s West Team Extreme, along with several other Federal Way skaters. Pattison’s Team Extreme is coached by Mike Pattison and Robin Pfander. The team ranked fourth in overall points at this year’s national competition.

Sagiao also claimed another gold medal in the Sophomore Men’s two-person relay, along with Colby Graves. Walter Langley also won a national championship in the Grand Veteran Men’s Division in Fort Wayne.

Other Pattison skaters from Federal Way who placed at the nationals in Indiana were Chase Anderson, second in the Tiny Tot Girl Division; Allison Pfander, second place in the Elementary Girls Division; Isaiah Watkins, third place in the Primary Boys Division; Anna Lapelle, third place in the Elementary Girls Division; Shianna Moses, second in the Freshman Girls Division; Dakota O’Day, fourth in the Freshman Girls Division; Ron Dillow, fourth place in the Veteran Men’s Division; and Ami Raynor, third place in the Grand Veteran Ladies Division.

The team practices starting in October and although many end their season after nationals, they do have a few skaters continuing their season in Colorado for the outdoor nationals and trying for a spot on the National, Jr.World and  World team.
