Prep wrap up: Raider baseball remains unbeaten; TJ softball blows out Kent-Meridian

The Thomas Jefferson Raiders (6-0) remained unbeaten with a 19-0 thrashing of the Kent-Meridian Royals Friday in five innings. Senior Erik Lindenauer gave up only three hits in five innings of work.

Jefferson also got strong offensive games from Brett Fitzgerald, Jordan Fujita, Brian Moe and Gunner Sonnenfeld. Fitzgerald finished 2 for 2 with two runs and three RBIs, Fujita was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI, Moe finished 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs and Sonnenfeld was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs.

The Federal Way Eagles squeaked by the Auburn Trojans Friday, 7-6. The Eagles (3-3) tallied the last five runs of the game to overcome an early 6-2 Auburn lead.

Austin Webber picked up the win on the mound and also helped himself out by finishing 1 for 3 at the plate with a double and three RBIs. Junior Nick Tanielu connected on a solo home run and Brett Evans finished 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Beamer (4-2) suffered their first loss in the SPSL South Division Friday to Emerald Ridge, 8-5. The Jaguars scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 5-5 tie.

Richie Apigo connected on a three-run home run in the third for the Titans. Ryan Beck finished 2 for 3 with a run and Travis Crumb was 2 for 3 with a run.

Softball

The Thomas Jefferson Raiders (5-1) scored 12 runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 15-1 win over Kent-Meridian Friday in five innings. Sophomore pitcher Alex Rodriguez allowed only one hit and struck out seven to get the win.

Allie Crowe and Lexi Goranson led the TJ offense. Crowe finished 2 for 3 with two doubles and Gornanson was 3 for 3 with a double.

Federal Way outhit Auburn Friday afternoon, but couldn’t push any runs across and lost, 6-0. The Eagles collected eight hits, compared to six by Auburn.

Federal Way (0-5) got two hits apiece from Olivia Timothy and Sadie Bynum.

The Todd Beamer Titans couldn’t score against Emerald Ridge Friday and lost 5-1. The loss moved Beamer to 4-2 on the season.

Taylor Winton finished with two hits and Sarah Petosa scored the Titans’ only run and had a pair of stolen bases.

Boys soccer

Auburn Riverside scored three second-half goals to beat Jefferson Saturday, 3-1. The loss dropped the Raiders to 3-3-0 on the season and is their third loss in a row. Jefferson’s lone goal came from Austin Egerton in the 23rd minute on a pass from Julio Medina.

The Raiders also lost 2-1 to Kentwood Thursday. Egerton also scored TJ’s only goal.

Federal Way played Kentlake to a scoreless tie Thursday at French Field. The tie moved the Eagles to 2-1-1 on the year.

Beamer blasted the Bethel Braves Friday, 5-0, to stay unbeaten in the SPSL South. The Titans are 3-0-1 on the year.

Beamer got a pair of goals from Austin Sweeney and single goals from Michael Monolides, Ian Lange and Troy Peterson. Scott Ferrin picked up the shutout in net for the Titans.

The Decatur Gators got a hat trick from Dominique Dismuke during a 6-1 win over Graham-Kapowsin Friday night. The victory was the Gators’ (1-1-1) first during the SPSL South season.

Boys track

Auburn Riverside rolled by Beamer Thursday, 87-45. The Titans got a pair of individual wins from Shawn Priggett in the 100 (11.74) and 200 (23.49). Beamer’s other individual win came from Tyler Eidsmoe in the 400 (53.07). They also won the 400 relay in 44.95.

Girls track

Auburn Riverside outlasted Beamer Thursday, 72-69. The Titans got a pair of individual wins from Mackenzie Hickel in the 100 hurdles (17.26) and 300 hurdles (50.21). Beamer’s other wins came from Taylor Kartes in the 800 (2:27.5) and Emma Cortes in the triple jump (34-4.5). The Titans also won the 400 and 800 relays.
