PREP SPORTS WRAP UP: TJ softball moves to 6-2 in the SPSL North with win over Kentridge

SOFTBALL

Jefferson

The Raiders (6-2 SPSL North) tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and beat the Kentridge Chargers, 4-1, Thursday in SPSL North action.

Katie Jackson held the Chargers to just five hits and their only run came in the top of the sixth. Jackson also finished 1 for 2 with an RBI and run. Alyssa Keyes finished with two RBIs and Annalise Campbell was 2 for 3 with a run.

Decatur

The Gators (0-11) were swept by the Bonney Lake Panthers Thursday in a doubleheader, 16-3 and 12-2.

In the opener, Decatur finished with five hits and scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning. Senior Lindsay Dickinson was 1 for 2 with a double, RBI and a run.

Dickinson had two of the Gators’ three hits in the nightcap and Abby McFaul finished 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Beamer

The Titans (3-4 SPSL South) were shut out by the Emerald Ridge Jaguars in five innings Thursday, 12-0. The Jaguars pounded out 21 hits and Beamer finished with just two.

Federal Way

The Eagles (0-7 SPSL South) were shut out by the Spanaway Lake Sentinels, 10-0, Thursday evening in SPSL South play. Federal Way finished with just two hits and also committed five errors.

Spanaway Lake scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

 

BASEBALL

The Decatur Gators picked up a huge come-from-behind victory Thursday over Bonney Lake. Trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Decatur tallied three runs of their own to send the game to extra innings.

The Gators (5-5 SPSL 3A) won the game with a single run in the bottom of the eighth. Decatur got single RBIs from Romiro Ponce and Jim Sullivan and freshman Brandon Zimmerman finished 3 for 4 with a run and RBI.

Janson Junk picked up the win on the mound for the Gators.

Beamer

The Titans (6-5 SPSL South, 9-5 overall) came close against the league-leading Emerald Ridge Jaguars Thursday, but lost 6-5. Beamer belted a pair of home runs and outhit Emerald Ridge, 8-5. Jarred Prather finished 3 for 4 with a home run and Mac Gridley was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.

 

TENNIS

Federal Way

The Eagles (0-5) were beaten by the Auburn Trojans Thursday, 4-1. Federal Way’s lone victory came from Lauren Lang and Mina Park at No. 1 doubles. The pair won by default.

Jefferson

The Raiders (4-1) got back on track after losing their first SPSL Central match earlier in the week with a 4-1 win over Beamer (3-2) Thursday.

Jefferson’s victories came from Breanna Ziccarelli at No. 1 singles over Ruth Yi, 6-1, 6-1, Cindy Park at No. 2 singles over Lindsey Tyson, 6-3, 6-2, Nichelle Song and Amanda Ziccarelli at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, and Krista Nakamura and Melissa Greenheck at No. 2 doubles.

The Titans’ lone win came from Julia Guo and Taylor Lunka at No. 3 doubles over TJ’s Emily Mills and Elizabeth Perea, 6-4, 6-2.
