The Todd Beamer Titans soccer team remained unbeaten in the South Puget Sound League South Division with a 12-0 bombing of the Bethel Braves Tuesday.
The Titans (10-0-3) had an amazing 11 players score a goal during the win. The only Beamer player to score more than one goal was senior Troy Peterson. Peterson, a midfielder headed to the College of Charleston next fall, leads the team with 14 goals and 11 assists.
Beamer’s other goals came from Udenze Okoli, Marcus Tinsley, Austin Sweeney, Ugo Okoli, Ike Crook, Aaron Nordman, Paul Park, Deshar House, Brandon Brockway and Holden Wade. Nick Bod picked up the shutout in net for the Titans.
Jefferson
The Raiders (8-2-2) snuck by the Auburn Riverside Ravens Tuesday at Federal Way Memorial Stadium, 3-1. The Ravens took a quick 1-0 lead with a goal in the 11th minute.
But TJ battled back to score the next three goals, including two by Omar Abdi, to remain in second place in the SPSL North Division behind Kentwood. Jimmy Oganga tied the game for the Raiders with a goal just before halftime. Both of Abdi’s goals came in the second half. His first came on a pass from Glenn Carpenter and the second came on an assist by Kasey Kim.
Decatur
The Gators (7-2) remained in a first-place tie with Bonney Lake in the SPSL 3A Division after a 6-0 win over Lakes Tuesday night.
Decatur got a hat trick from Dominique Dismuke and single goals from Nick Karis, Jimmy Hong and Jose Carrillo. Zach Gippe picked up the shutout in goal for the Gators.
Federal Way
The Eagles (5-4-3) played to a 1-1 tie with the Curtis Vikings Tuesday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.
Jordan Ferguson tallied the first goal of the game in the ninth minute for Federal Way. The Eagles then held the lead until late in the second half, when Curtis’ Isaiah Sandifer scored the game-tyer in the 76th minute.
BASEBALL
The Federal Way Eagles, who finished third at the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament a season ago, have clinched a postseason berth. The Eagles (11-3 SPSL South, 12-4 overall) blew out the Todd Beamer Titans Tuesday, 12-1.
Federal Way sits behind Puyallup (12-2) and Emerald Ridge (12-2) in the South Division standings with two league games remaining in the regular season.
Derek Klaas picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles. The sophomore threw five innings, allowing the Titans’ lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Klaas was relieved by Nick Tanielu and Evan Elliot.
Offensively, Federal Way finished with nine hits, including a 2-for-4 day from Tanielu. The Washington State-signee also had two RBIs.
Beamer used six pitchers during the game, which was started by Matt Bower. Federal Way scored two runs in the first, six in the third, single runs in the fourth and fifth and two more in the seventh.
The loss dropped Beamer to 7-7 in the SPSL South. Senior Mac Gridley finished 2 for 3 with a run for the Titans’ offense, which collected eight hits.
SOFTBALL
The Todd Beamer Titans needed five innings to down the Federal Way Eagles Tuesday, 21-0. Beamer (5-4 SPSL South, 6-4 overall) scored nine runs in the first, five in the second and seven more in the third, pounding out 11 hits.
The Titans’ got a 4-for-4 performance from Halle Colson, who finished with four RBIs. Jenna Floyd ended up 2 for 3 with four RBIs and Alyssa Woods was 1 for 2 with four RBIs. Emma Blauser picked up the win on the mound for Beamer.
Federal Way (0-9 SPSL South, 0-10 overall) finished with seven hits on the day. The Eagles were also shut out by Emerald Ridge Wednesday night, 9-0.
TENNIS
Jefferson
The Thomas Jefferson Raiders moved to 5-1 in the SPSL Central Division with a 5-0 win over Curtis Tuesday.
The Raiders’ wins came from Breanna Ziccarelli at No. 1 singles, Cindy Park at No. 2, Nichelle Song and Amanda Ziccarelli at No. 1 doubles, Krista Nakamura and Michelle Lee at No. 2 and Toni Mullen and Coco Hernandez-Tagoe at No. 3 doubles.
Decatur
The Gators remained unbeaten with a rain-shortened, 3-1 win over Bonney Lake Wednesday.
