The top-ranked 1B volleyball team in the state just continues to roll.
Federal Way-based Christian Faith High School swept aside Northwest Yeshiva from Mercer Island Tuesday night to remain unbeaten in SeaTac League play. The Christian Faith Eagles outscored Northwest Yeshiva, 25-18, 25-17, 25-12. The victory moved the Eagles to 16-4 overall, with all four losses coming to much bigger schools.
Christian Faith was led Tuesday by freshman Katrice Pond, who finished with 13 kills, eight digs and two blocks. Senior Amanda Tofaeono continued her solid season with 27 assists and Kendra Ireigbe finished with 10 kills and two blocks.
On the season, Pond and Ireigbe have been the Eagles’ offensive leaders. Pond leads the team with 125 kills and Ireigbe follows right behind with 107. Tofaeono, who is a two-time most valuable player in the SeaTac League, is the engine that makes the top-ranked Eagles go. Tofaeono leads the team with 200 assists on the year and a team-high 53 service aces.
Jefferson
The Raiders were swept Tuesday night by the Kentridge Chargers to remain winless in the SPSL North Division. The Chargers won 25-12, 25-7, 25-22 at home.
Jefferson got 21 digs from Adrina Tanielu and 14 digs from Bailey Rundle to lead the Raiders (0-6).
Decatur
The Decatur Gators (0-7) were shutout by Peninsula Tuesday, 25-20, 25-14, 25-13. Kendra Barnes finished with nine kills and three aces for Peninsula. No Decatur details were reported.
Girls Soccer
The second-ranked Titans remained unbeaten in the South Puget Sound League South Division with a 3-0 shutout of the Bethel Braves Tuesday.
The victory moved Beamer to 12-0-1 and kept them 10 points in front of second-place Puyallup (8-1-3) with three matches remaining in the regular season. The Titans can clinch the league title with a win Thursday over Puyallup.
Tuesday, the Titans tallied three first-half goals to put away the winless Braves. Breanna Straus scored in the 17th minute and Jasmine Brilliante followed in the 29th minute to make it 2-0. Autumn Talney took a pass from Kiele Bowman in the 34th minute to complete the scoring.
Meghan Graf earned the shutout in goal for the Titans, her 10th of the season.
Decatur
Enumclaw (5-2-0 SPSL 3A, 6-6-1 overall) ended the Gators’ impressive winning streak with a 2-0 win Tuesday over Decatur. The Gators (4-3-0 SPSL 3A, 6-6-0 overall) had previously won four matches in a row, including victories over first-place Auburn Mountainview and second-place Bonney Lake. Tuesday’s loss was Decatur’s second to Enumclaw.
The Hornets scored two second-half goals from Katie Christensen and Hannah Dahlquist.
Jefferson
The Raiders (3-6-3) fell further out of the playoff hunt in the SPSL North Division with a 2-1 loss to Auburn Riverside Tuesday in Auburn.
Jefferson and senior striker Lindsey Dahl got the scoring going early with a goal in the 27th minute. The goal was Dahl’s 14th of the season in 12 matches for TJ.
But the Dahl goal wouldn’t stand. Riverside tallied two goals in the final 12 minutes of play Tuesday to steal the victory. The game-winner came from Ashley Enlow in the 74th minute.
Federal Way
The Eagles fell to 4-7-1 in the SPSL South with a 3-1 loss to the Curtis Vikings Tuesday in University Place. Federal Way’s lone goal came from Gabriela Pelogi. It was the freshman’s sixth goal of the season.
