The Thomas Jefferson boys soccer team got back on the winning track Monday with a 3-1 victory over Auburn.
The Raiders (7-0-2) had tied their previous two matches in the South Puget Sound League North Division with Kent-Meridian and Mount Rainier. Jefferson still sits atop the SPSL North.
The three goals for the Raiders came from Brandon Madsen, Luis Alvaro Osornio and Paul Andrew McCleary. Jefferson will play second-place Kentwood (7-1-1) on the road Wednesday night.
Beamer — The Titans remained in second-place in the SPSL South with a 2-0 win over Graham-Kapowsin Monday. The victory moved Beamer to 5-2-2 in league play and trail first-place Federal Way (8-0-0) by seven points.
Beamer got goals from Christian Stafford and Kelvin Horne Monday night and Jesse Fite earned the shutout in goal.
Baseball
Jefferson — The Raiders (4-6 overall) won a pitchers’ dual, 1-0, Monday afternoon over the Kent-Meridian Royals. Jefferson’s Caleb Wallen threw a complete-game, three-hitter and finished with eight strikeouts.
Offensively, the Raiders were also stymied by Kent-Meridian’s Kyle Engman, who allowed only two hits in six innings of work, striking out 11. The only run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI from Michael Ziccarelli. Thomas Amato had the only other hit for TJ.
Federal Way — The Eagles were beaten up by the second-ranked Puyallup Vikings Monday afternoon, 11-3. Federal Way (1-9 overall, 0-7 SPSL South) mustered only four hits during the game off of Brendan Illies. Chris Shimer finished 2 for 3 with a run and double for the Eagles. All three of Federal Way’s runs came in the bottom of the first inning.
