The Decatur baseball team is officially rolling. After starting the season with two non-league losses, the Gators won their seventh game in a row Wednesday and sit atop the South Puget Sound League 3A Division.

The Gators blew away the Enumclaw Hornets Wednesday night in just five innings, 15-1, to move to 4-0 in the SPSL 3A. Decatur pounded out 14 hits and Chris Carns allowed only two hits in his five innings of work on the mound, striking out nine. Carns also helped his own cause by finished 3 for 4 at the plate with three RBIs and a home run.

Isaiah Hatch also had a huge day at the plate for the Gators, finishing 4 for 4 with five RBIs.

The win over Enumclaw came a day after Decatur squeaked by Bonney Lake, 3-2. Hatch allowed just one hit on the mound and Derik Bontempo connected on a solo home run.

Up next for the Gators is a home game against the No. 1-ranked Auburn Mountainview Lions Friday afternoon. The Lions (7-1) dropped their first game of the season Wednesday to Peninsula, 5-4.

Beamer — The Titans (4-4 overall, 3-2 SPSL South) broke open a close game Wednesday by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat Bethel, 7-5. Taylor Davis had a huge game at the plate, finishing 3 for 3 with three runs and five RBIs. Kepa Sharpe was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Blake Randazzo picked up the win on the win on the mound.

The Titans were beat in extra-innings Tuesday by Graham-Kapowsin, 4-3. Jarred Prather was 2 for 3 with a solo home run and Sharpe was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Federal Way – The Eagles (1-6 overall, 0-4 SPSL South) lost their fifth game in a row Tuesday to Emerald Ridge, 12-4. Derek Klaas finished 2 for 3 with a run and double and Eduardo Peraza was 2 for 3 with a run.

Jefferson — The Raiders (3-4 overall, 1-4 SPSL North) dropped a pair of SPSL North games to Mount Rainier and Kentridge.

Against Kentridge Wednesday, Nathan Baughman finished 2 for 3 with three runs. Tuesday, the Raiders allowed Mount Rainier six runs in the third and seven in the fourth. Baughman and Jordan Price both had two hits and Hunter Henry connected on a solo home run.

Softball

Jefferson — The Raiders (5-0 overall, 4-0 SPSL North) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to steal a victory away from Kentridge Wednesday night, 7-6. Jefferson never led until the final at bat of the game.

Bailey Rundle finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Kyleigh Carbon was 2 for 4 for TJ.

The Raiders also squeaked past Mount Rainier Tuesday, 5-4. Jefferson got two hits each from Rundle and Reno Whitcomb. Rundle was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, a double and a triple and Whitcomb finished 2 for 2 with a run and RBI.

Beamer — The Titans (6-1 overall, 4-0 SPSL South) scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a tie and beat the Bethel Braves, 7-5. Madison Rogers got the win on the mound, throwing seven innings and striking out eight and was also 3 for 3 at the plate, with two doubles and an RBI. Analee Scott was 3 for 3 with an RBI and double.

Beamer also had another impressive performance Tuesday with an 8-1 in over Graham-Kapowsin in SPSL South action. Rogers threw a complete-game and allowed only four hits while striking out 10.

Megan Jewett-Chan finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a double and Scott had a pair of hits, scored two runs and an RBI. Beamer pounded out 16 hits on the day.
