Prep sports wrap: Beamer volleyball looking to make some noise this season

This could be the year that the Todd Beamer volleyball team ends its postseason drought. The Titans have never qualified for the playoffs in the history of the school.

“Beamer has a lot to prove and these kids are working hard to do that,” said first-year coach Jason Boyd.

Beamer kicked its season off in impressive fashion Tuesday with a non-league sweep of Shelton, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19. The Titans got 27 assists and three kills from sophomore setter Sophie Miller and 15 kills from junior outside hitter Lexi Jones. Beamer also got seven kills and three blocks from Megan Stumpf and 15 digs and four aces from Summer Jex.

“If we as coaches can put all the pieces together we will be a scary team and a huge force in this league,” Boyd said.
