The Todd Beamer Titans remained unbeaten with a workmanlike 1-0 shutout of Federal Way Tuesday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium in a South Puget Sound League South Division girls soccer game.

The victory improved the Titans to 3-0-0 in the South Division. Beamer has yet to give up a goal this season and have outscored opponents 9-0 in those three games. The loss dropped Federal Way 1-1-0 in the SPSL South.

Sophomore Breanna Straus broke the 0-0 deadlock with the Eagles when she converted a pass from Tiarra Fentress in the 60th minute of play. The goal was Straus’ fourth of the season.

And like she has done all season, junior goalkeeper Meghan Graf pitched a shutout for Beamer. As a sophomore last year, Graf finished with six shutouts.

Beamer has a big early-season contest Thursday when they take on the second-place Puyallup Vikings at Sparks Stadium.

The Decatur Gators (2-1-0) picked up a solid 3-0 win over Capital Tuesday at Federal Way Memorial Stadium in a non-league contest. Decatur got goals from Abby McFaul, Ashley Graves and Allison Lewis.

The Gators’ lone loss came in their season opener against Kennedy Catholic, 1-0. Kennedy is slated to be one of the better teams in the state and finished 19-2-0 last season.

Decatur kicks off its inaugural season in the SPSL 3A Division on Tuesday at home against Bonney Lake.

Boys Tennis

Jefferson (3-0) remained unbeaten with a 4-1 win over Federal Way Tuesday afternoon. The loss dropped the Eagles to 0-3.

The Raiders won all four of their matches in straight sets. James Lee beat Gaurav Gupta, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 singles, Makoa Rosa and Brandyn Gomez beat Ben Blacker and Nate Strickler at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-1, Alex Lee and Richard Ban beat Sean Hwang and Brett Evans at No. 2, 6-2, 6-4, and Tyler Hamashima and Vivek Ramanugan beat Alex Dahl and Napolean Huynh, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3.

Federal Way’s lone victory came from freshman Mitch Stewart at No. 1 singles. Stewart beat Kainoa Rose, 6-1, 6-2.

Boys Golf

Beamer split a pair of matches Tuesday and Wednesday in the SPSL Central division. Auburn Riverside snuck by the Titans Tuesday, 65-64, despite Nate Smith firing a 2-over 38 at Sumner Meadows. Beamer bounced back with a 61-49 win over Federal Way Wednesday at Northshore. Dom Cindrich earned medalist honors with a 3-over 39.

Jefferson picked up a win over Auburn Tuesday at the Auburn Golf Course, 56-52. The Raiders were led by Stephen and Eugene Kim, who both shot matching 44s. Ryan Hagan followed with a 46 for TJ.

Girls Golf

Beamer, Federal Way and Decatur all lost matches Tuesday despite earning medalist honors in all three.

Auburn Riverside beat Beamer, 78-48, and Jenn Lee had the low round at Tapps Island with a 39. Curtis downed Federal Way, 54-50, as Emily Victor had the low round of 44 at Meadow Park and Enumclaw beat Decatur, 159-121, despite Amanda Beyke’s 39 at the Enumclaw Golf Course.

Volleyball

Federal Way swept away Jefferson Tuesday night in a non-league match, 25-6, 25-19, 25-15. The Eagles (2-0) got 11 kills and three aces from Autisia Westerlund, seven kills and four blocks from Carly Bottemiller, 19 assists from Luaipou Lologo and 11 digs from Kara Highberg.

The Raiders were led by the six kills and three blocks of Beauty Jackson.

Tahoma got by Beamer (2-1) in four games Tuesday in non-league action, 25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 25-15. Sophie Miller finished with 30 assists, Lexie Jones had 14 kills, Allyssa Adams finished with eight kills and three blocks and Summer Jex and Allya Ranis each had 17 digs for the Titans.

Lindbergh needed five games to beat Decatur Tuesday, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 24-26, 15-13. The Gators got 14 kills and four aces from Alisia Wilson, four aces from Christina Sessoms and six aces from Audri Mooth.

Federal Way’s Christian Faith High School swept Shoreline Christian Tuesday, 25-11, 25-9, 25-12. The Eagles finished ninth at last year’s Class 1B State Tournament.
