PREP SPORTS WRAP: Beamer baseball blows away Federal Way, 14-0; TJ, FW remain unbeaten in soccer

The Todd Beamer baseball team blew out cross-town rival Federal Way Thursday afternoon, 14-0. The win improved the Titans to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the South Puget Sound League South Division. The loss dropped the Eagles to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the South.

Beamer pounded out nine hits and took advantage of five Federal Way errors. Scott Sunitsch finished 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs and Kepa Sharpe was 3 for 4 with three runs, three RBIs and two doubles.

Taylor Davis was also magnificent on the mound for the Titans. Davis threw a complete game and limited the Eagles to just two hits, while striking out nine and walking only one.

Decatur — The Gators opened their SPSL 3A season with a 5-2 win over Lakes Thursday. Decatur (4-2 overall) scored three runs in the first and added two more in the sixth to break open a close game.

Derik Bontempo finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a pair of triples and Jim Sullivan was 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Gators. Chris Carns threw a complete game, allowing just five hits and striking out 11.

Soccer

The Thomas Jefferson Raiders remained unbeaten with a 4-0 shutout of Auburn Riverside Thursday night.

The Raiders (4-0-0) got goals from Brandon Madsen, Andrian Velgus, Raul Duran and Luis Alvaro Osornio. McKay Owsley picked up the shutout in net.

Federal Way — The Eagles moved to 4-0-0 in the SPSL South with a 4-1 win over Graham-Kapowsin Thursday.

Federal Way got goals from Garrett Brewer, Edwin Ortiz, Odasson Pelogi and Felipe Hernandez.

Beamer — The Titans (2-1-1) played Puyallup to a scoreless 0-0 tie Thursday at Federal Way Memorial Stadium. Jesse Fite picked up the shutout in net for Beamer.
