• Accomplishment: The Raider senior led TJ to its first football victory of the season, a 52-7 blowout of the Kent-Meridian Royals last Friday. During the game, Volland had four receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown, a fumble recovery for a touchdown on defense and converted a two-point conversion.

• Favorite athlete?: Wayne Gretzky. “Best hockey player ever to have played. He had a famous quote: ‘You’ll miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.’”

• What is on your IPOD?: Everything, mostly faster, pump-up songs.

• What is your favorite class?: Biology. Setting up experiments and labs can actually be pretty interesting.

• Something a lot of people don’t know about you?: Pre-game ritual. “Go home, eat a lot of pasta, meet at school, listen to Bleed it Out on the ride to the stadium.”
