The Federal Way Mirror’s female athlete of the week for Sept. 15 is junior Madelyn Mitchell of Decatur High School, cross country.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: AP Psychology.
Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
A: Reading, writing and listening to music.
Q: Name your Mount Rushmore (Top 4) of Movies?
A: “Lord of the Rings,” “The Hobbit,” “Harry Potter,” “Maze Runner.”
Q: You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?
A: Iced tea and goldfish.
Q: Describe your pre-game ritual and your favorite post-game meal.
A: Pre-game: I make sure I have a good meal, hydrate and visualize my race. Post-game meal: A burger or some type of fish.
Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?
A: “Arabian Nights” from Aladdin. (I really like musicals)
From the sidelines: Maddie has earned two varsity letter awards for cross country and two varsity letters in track and field. She has started her cross country season strong, running the fastest split time for Decatur at the Tahoma Cross Country Jamboree. Maddie is an exceptional leader, always putting forth her best effort and encouraging her teammates. In the classroom, Maddie has earned a 3.947 cumulative grade point average.
