Thomas Jefferson High School swim team members were named Academic State Champions for the 2016 fall sports season in the 4A girls swimming category by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, the Dairy Farmers of Washington and Les Schwab Tires.
The Raiders swim team competed with a cumulative GPA of 3.89 and will be awarded a plaque during the state championships. The Scholastic Awards Program recognizes the team with the highest GPA among all Washington high schools in their respective enrollment classification.
Thomas Jefferson went 3-4 during the regular season.
Federal Way Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tammy Campbell said she is extremely proud of the Raiders’ accomplishment.
“We want our scholar-athletes to shine in all aspects of their learning experiences – in the classroom, extracurricular activities, and the community,” she said in a statement. “I am proud of the accomplishments of the TJHS girls swim team, and of all of our scholars in Federal Way Public Schools who go after their dreams of being the very best they can be.”
