The Todd Beamer Titans came up just short of winning the South Puget Sound League sub-district meet Saturday. The Puyallup Vikings outdistanced the Titans by just .27 points at Kentwood High School.
The Vikings finished with 170.25 points, compared to Beamer’s 169.93 points. The Thomas Jefferson Raiders, who went unbeaten during the SPSL North season, finished third with 169.28 points.
The Titans got a pair of solid individual performances from Sam West and Cassie Peterson. West finished fifth and Peterson ended up sixth in the all-around competition. West tallied 35.93 points and Peterson finished with 35.73. Auburn Riverside’s Becca Turnbow won the all-around with 37.03 points.
West tied for first place on the vault with a 9.4 and was fourth on the uneven parallel bars (8.63). Peterson finished in the top-10 in all four individual events.
Jefferson’s Madi Kellar was also impressive Saturday at Kentwood. Kellar finished third in the all-around with 36.35 points and also won the balance beam (9.7) and floor exercise (9.43). She also finished third on the bars (8.83).
The 4A West Central District Gymnastics Meet will take place Saturday at Auburn Mountainview High School. The top-two team finishes advance to the state competition, as well as the top-six in individual events and the top-two in the all-around.
