GYMNASTICS: Beamer and Jefferson both remain unbeaten in SPSL action

The Todd Beamer Titans remained unbeaten in South Puget Sound League action by sweeping a four-team meet Wednesday night at Todd Beamer. The Titans (13-0) finished with 163.95 points, followed by Rogers (147.75), Kentwood (145.8) and Tahoma (132.25).

Beamer was led Tuesday by Sam West, who won the all-around competition with 36.15 points. West, who finished second in the all-around at last year’s Class 4A state championships, also ended up first on the uneven parallel bars with an 8.7, won the floor exercise (9.35) and finished second on the vault (9.25).

Teammate Cassie Peterson ended up second in the all-around with 35.55 points and was second on the bars (8.0), second on the balance beam (9.15), second on the floor exercise (9.2) and third on the vault (9.2).

Beamer’s Kasey Johnson was second on the bars (8.0), third on the beam (8.95) and third on the floor (8.85).

In other action:

The Thomas Jefferson Raiders also stayed unbeaten with another impressive meet Wednesday. The Raiders (15-0) tallied 168.15 points to down Mount Rainier (158.8), Decatur (154.7) and Kentridge (144.8).

Madi Kellar continued her strong season by winning the all-around with 36.3 points. Kellar outdistanced teammates Monica Church (34.85) and Shelby Church (34.6).

Kellar swept the balance beam (8.9), uneven parallel bars (9.1) and floor exercise (9.45) and was second on the vault (8.85). Monica Church won the vault with a 9.1 and was second on the bars (8.4).
