The Federal Way girls basketball team won their second South Puget Sound League North Division game in a row Tuesday night when they beat the Auburn Trojans, 68-50.

It wasn’t as easy as the final score would indicate, however. After Federal Way (4-2 overall, 2-2 in SPSL North) jumped out to a 19-8 lead after the first quarter, Auburn fought back during the second and third quarters to cut the Eagle lead to just seven entering the final eight minutes.

But Federal Way outscored the Trojans, 20-8, during the fourth quarter to get the win.

The Eagles were led by the 22 points of junior TyShana Burgess and 19 from sophomore Darah Huertas-Vining.

In other girls basketball action:

• at Kentwood 78, Jefferson 51 — The Raiders fell to 2-3 in the SPSL North and 3-4 overall Tuesday with a loss to the Conquerors on the road. Jefferson trailed 31-25 at halftime before Kentwood outscored TJ, 21-5, during the third quarter to put the game away.

The Raiders were led by 18 points from Hannah Kiyohara and 15 from Unique Taufa’asau.

• at Bethel 34, Beamer 29 — The Titans (0-4, 0-5) led the Braves 23-21 entering the fourth quarter, but couldn’t hold on late. Beamer was led by the 10 points of Mercedes Sullivan and seven from Shyla Akins.

• at Curtis 47, Decatur 37 — The Gators (0-4, 0-5) remained winless Tuesday with a 10-point loss to the Vikings in University Place. Decatur jumped out to a 13-9 lead after the first quarter, but were outscored 28-10 in the second and third quarters.

The Gators were led by the eight points of Kayla Lipston.
