GIRLS BASKETBALL: Kentwood uses second half to down Federal Way; TJ wins

But the second half was another story. The Conks dominated the second half and beat Federal Way, 57-42 on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. After leading 25-19 after the first half and being tied heading into the fourth quarter, 31-31, Kentwood outscored the Eagles by 15 points in the final eight minutes.

Federal Way (10-3 overall, 8-1 SPSL South) was led by the 19 points of Darah Huertas-Vining, who was playing her first game in two weeks. Raven Benton chipped in 11 points.

The Eagles’ rematch with the Emerald Ridge Jaguars in a battle of the two first-place teams in the South Puget Sound League South Division scheduled for Tuesday was cancelled because of snow. The two teams are tied at 8-1 in the South and Emerald Ridge won the first meeting in overtime.

Jefferson — The Raiders (6-8 overall, 4-6 SPSL North) dominated the Kent-Meridian Royals Friday night, 56-26.

Christy Kullberg finished with a game-high 18 points and Jada Piper chipped in nine.

Beamer — The Titans (5-9 overall, 2-8 SPSL South) were beaten up Friday by Bethel, 53-32. Beamer was led by the 10 points of Meghan Graf.

Decatur — The Gators’ Friday game against Lakes was not reported.
