The future is bright for the Todd Beamer Titans girls basketball program. But the future will have to wait until next season.

The Arlington Eagles ended the Titans’ dream season Friday night at the Regional Tournament, 50-42. The game was played at Puyallup High School. The Regional Tournament included the final 16 teams in Class 4A. It was the furthest any Beamer girls basketball team has advanced in the history of the school.

Beamer (20-6) just couldn’t muster enough offense to take out Arlington, the second seed from the Northwest District. The sixth-ranked Eagles (20-4) jumped out to a quick 13-9 lead after the first quarter and led 24-15 at halftime.

Arlington extended the lead to 11 points after three quarters. Junior Megan Huff and freshman Nia Alexander both finished with 15 points each for Beamer. Jayla Ross and Winter Brown were the only Eagle players in double figures. Ross had 15 points and Brown finished with 10.

Arlington advances to the Class 4A Hardwood Classic at the Tacoma Dome as one of the final eight teams still playing. The Titans will essentially return their whole team next season. Beamer, who won the South Puget Sound League South Division title, starts three freshman.
