Todd Beamer Titans tennis player Malaika Andrike has been named the Federal Way Mirror Athlete of the Week.
Andrike has played at multiple positions on the court for Beamer. She is described by coaches and teammates as a “whatever it takes” player. She played at the No. 2 singles position for the first time in Beamer’s 4-1 win over Decatur on Monday, and she defeated Isabella Moore 6-1, 6-0. She was victorious in doubles competition on April 11 in the Titans’ win over Federal Way.
“Just a great attitude,” Beamer coach Brent Brilhante said of Andrike. “I didn’t know her [at all] when the season started. She didn’t really say much, but she has done whatever we’ve needed her to do, whether it’s singles, doubles, doesn’t matter. Just a great kid and a great attitude.”
