FOOTBALL: Federal Way stays unbeaten with win over Beamer

The second-ranked Federal Way Eagles remained unbeaten with a blowout win over cross-district rival Beamer Friday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium, 52-14.

The second-ranked Federal Way Eagles remained unbeaten with a blowout win over cross-district rival Beamer Friday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium, 52-14.

The Eagles (6-0) had six different players score a touchdown during the South Puget Sound League South Division game. Federal Way led 24-0 after the first quarter and 45-7 at halftime. The loss dropped the Titans to 1-5 on the season.

Marcel Morris got the scoring barrage going for the Eagles early in the first quarter when he caught a 21-yard touchdown from senior D’Londo Tucker.

Federal Way’s other first-quarter touchdowns came from sophomore Chico McClatcher on a 50-yard punt return. Tucker caught a 15-yard pass from Evan Elliot and senior fullback Rod Jones punched in a touchdown from 2 yards out. Koby Craig added a 37-yard field goal to give the Eagles the 24-0 lead after the first 10 minutes.

The Federal Way scoring continued in the second quarter on a 1-yard run from Jones, a 31-yard pass from Elliot to Branden Warren and a 25-yard run from Zeek McNeal.

Beamer’s Adrian Shocks had an impressive game against the talented Federal Way defense. Shocks scored both of the Titans’ touchdowns Friday night on passes from Taylor Davis.

Shocks’ first score came early in the second quarter on a 47-yard pass. He also caught a 6-yarder late in the fourth quarter.

Federal Way travels to Spanaway Lake on Thursday night to take on the Sentinels. Beamer travels to Sparks Stadium on Friday night to take on the Emerald Ridge Jaguars.

at Bonney Lake 27, Decatur 14

The Gators (1-5 overall, 0-2 SPSL) remained winless in the SPSL 3A Division with a loss on the road to the Bonney Lake Panthers on Friday night. The Panthers tallied the last 21 points of the game to overcome a 14-6 Decatur lead.

The Gators got a pair of first-half touchdown runs from Noel Maafala and Isaiah Hatch. Maafala gave Decatur a 7-0 lead with an 18-yard run, and Hatch followed with a 9-yard scamper to put the Gators up 14-6 heading into halftime.

Decatur hosts Peninsula (4-2) on Friday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.

Auburn 35, at Jefferson 9

The Raiders (2-4) were beaten up by the Trojans on Thursday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium in SPSL North action.

Auburn (5-1) jumped out to a 20-3 lead at halftime, thanks to a pair of touchdowns from Harold Lee. Jefferson’s only points in the first half came on a 35-yard field goal.

Auburn’s Kevin Shelton also had a pair of second-half touchdowns to put the Trojans up 35-3. Jefferson tallied its first touchdown of the game later in the fourth quarter on a 28-yard pass from Jacob Avionitis to Phillip Cuadros.

The Raiders travel to Mount Rainier on Friday night to take on the Rams at Highline Stadium.
