Holland Crook, Beamer
The senior developed into one of the best soccer players in the state during her impressive career at Beamer. She was the SPSL South Player of the Year three times, state player of the year in 2007, All-State three times, the Mirror’s Player of the Year three times, The News Tribune All-Area Player of the Year twice and ESPN All-Area in 2008.
In total, Crook totaled 60 goals during her four seasons at Beamer, including nine as a freshman, 19 as a sophomore, 18 as a junior and 14 as a senior. She will play next season at Arizona State University.
“Holland is an attacking center mid,” Arizona State head coach Kevin Boyd said. “She is absolutely outstanding on the ball. She has got a good shot with both feet. I think she is going to give us another dangerous player coming out of our midfield.”
Lindsey Dahl, Jefferson
Dahl was a three-sport standout for the Raiders and she is only a sophomore.
On the soccer field, Dahl led the Raiders in scoring this season with six goals, including a hat trick during a 6-1 win over Kent-Meridian on Sept. 24. She was a first-team, All-South Puget Sound League North Division selection by the league’s coaches.
In track, Dahl had a busy weekend at the recent state meet in Tacoma. Dahl competed in three events, finishing eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 36-5 1/4, ninth in the javelin with a throw of 117-0 and 14th in the 300-meter hurdles (47.85).
Dahl was also a reserve on the TJ girls basketball team.
Amber Cratsenberg, Jefferson
The Raider sophomore won both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races at the Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships. Cratsenberg’s double helped TJ to a third-place finish.
“It was really fun,” Cratsenberg said. “I enjoyed being on the top of the podium.”
Cratsenberg finished the 50 in an ultra-impressive, season-best time of 23.87. She might have been even more impressive in the 100 final after holding off Stadium freshman Felicity Cann. Cratsenberg swam a 51.57, which was good enough to earn an automatic All-American time in the event.
Taylor Winton, Beamer
The senior will play softball in the fall at Marshall University in West Virginia after a stellar career at Beamer. The 6-foot Winton hit an impressive .420 during the SPSL regular season and drove in 12 runs for the Titans. She also scored 15 runs, had two triples, one home run and was 7 for 7 in stolen bases. Beamer advanced to the postseason during the last two seasons.
On the basketball court, Winton averaged five points a game and led the Titans with 6.71 rebounds a game. Winton also led Beamer in blocked shots.
Molly Campbell, Federal Way
The senior was an All-City selection on the soccer field and a solid contributor on the Eagles’ basketball team. Campbell has already signed to play soccer in the fall at Saint Martin’s University.
The midfielder finished her senior season with four goals and one assist from the midfield. She had a pair of goals during a 4-0 win over Kent-Meridian on Oct. 13.
Campbell averaged 2.8 points and six rebounds a game for the Eagles, who went to state for the second year in a row in basketball.
Meghan Cassens, Decatur
The junior won her second consecutive Class 4A state singles tennis title last month with a straight-set victory over Stanwood’s Megan LaLone. Cassens has only lost one match during her prep career, which was the state championship match her freshman year.
Mackenzie Hickel, Beamer
The Titan senior will play soccer at Boise State in the fall after a solid career at Beamer. Hickel finished second on the team in scoring with seven goals and seven assists during the fall. Hickel’s seven assists were the best on the team.
She also helped the Beamer 4×100 relay team qualify for the state track and field meet.
Sarah Petosa, Beamer
The senior will play softball next year at Seattle University after finishing second in the SPSL South with a .529 batting average this season. Petosa also scored 21 runs and stole an amazing 32 bases for Beamer to lead the entire SPSL. The second-best stolen base total in the league was 14. She was a first-team, All-SPSL South selection for the second year in a row.
Petosa was also a solid contributor on the Titan soccer team, which lost in the state quarterfinals. The speedy Petosa finished with two goals and one assist.
Jaleecia Roland, Federal Way
The multi-talented junior finished second in the high jump at the 4A State Track and Field Meet with a personal-best leap of 5-foot-7 after winning the West Central District title. Roland also finished in sixth place in the triple jump at the state meet with a leap of 37-5 3/4.
She was also a big-time contributor for the Federal Way girls basketball team. But the 6-footer played in only 11 games after collapsing in class during the middle of the season. Before being shut down for the season, Roland was averaging double-figure rebounds (10.4) and 6.2 points a game.
Kayla Lipston, Decatur
The Gator junior is a rare three-sport athlete. Lipston is the goalie on the Decatur soccer team, a forward on the basketball team and the catcher for the Gators’ softball squad.
Lipston led the SPSL South with 10 shutouts during the soccer regular season and was the first-team, All-SPSL South goalkeeper. On the basketball court, Lipston averaged four points a game and led the Gators with 5.7 rebounds a game.
She finished with a .261 batting average with two doubles and a triple in softball.
