From the sidelines: Thoma Holden is a remarkable, multisport athlete and a standout tennis player, but his journey to a successful senior season with FWHS tennis was likely quite different from many of his peers. He entered the sport as a freshman with no previous experience and little knowledge about the sport as a whole, but developed a love of the game through competition. Despite working year-round on other sports, Thoma has found time to put in extra practice on the tennis court after practices and even early mornings during the summer. His drive to improve and compete has pulled his teammates along in his wake as they work harder to keep up. Ultimately, this has been a major factor in FWHS’s 3rd place divisional finish and why he and his doubles partner, Andrew Hyun, finished with an 11-1 record in league play. They also became only the second boys tennis players from FWHS to qualify for the state tournament in the last 10 years. Throughout this, Thoma has remained humble and an excellent sport, befriending many of his opponents and earning the respect of opposing coaches and families as well.
