Decatur High School’s Jameson Karmell, boys cross country, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Oct. 26.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: My favorite subject is history.
Q: What other activities/hobbies do you participate in?
A: I make birthday cards for all of my team.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My friends on the XC team and my coaches.
Q: Do you have a pregame/competition ritual or postgame tradition, and what is it?
A: My pre-race snack is consistently toast.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan.
From the sideline: Jameson Karmell, Decatur High School sophomore, ran a 17.07 for 5K at the North Puget Sound League Championship cross-country meet hosted at Fort Steilacoom Park. His 30th place finish has allowed him to advance to the West Central District Championship meet on Oct. 27 at Chambers Bay Properties in University Place. Jameson is working to match his personal best time of 16.52, which will put him in the running to earn a berth to the WIAA 4A State cross-country meet. Jameson has a earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.393 in an academically challenging college-prep course load.
