Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Oct. 21: Orlando Young

FWHS sophomore recently earned a 5K personal record at the All-City cross country meet.

Federal Way High School sophomore Orlando Young, cross country, is the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Oct. 21.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Weight training.

Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: Baseball, wrestling, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: Mom and Dad, Femarie and Thomas Young.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone (living or from the past), who would it be? Why?

A: Ken Griffey Jr. and Babe Ruth to learn how and why they became so successful and what went into getting to the highest level in baseball.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual:

A: Listen to music, drink an energy drink, stretch/warm-up and eat a small snack before I competes.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “MÍRENME AHORA” by Myke Towers and Lyke Mike.

From the sidelines: Sophomore Orlando Young is a first-year cross country athlete at FWHS. He started the season opener against Auburn Mountainview finishing eighth for the team with a time of 20:16 in the 5K race. Since then he has placed in six varsity races this year and scored in three of them for the Eagles team. At last week’s All-City Meet, he was one of three top Eagle runners and placed 10th overall in the meet with a new PR of 19:09. Way to go Orlando!
