Decatur High School senior Jalen Black, cross country, is the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Nov. 11.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: Photography and P.E.
Q: What hobbies do you enjoy outside of your sport?
A: Shooting baskets, bowling.
Q: Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?
A: My Mom, Priscilla.
Q: Describe your pre-game ritual:
A: I think about running, preview the course with my coach, Miss Kris, and eat Hot Tamales.
Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?
A: “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.
From the sidelines: DHS senior Jalen Black participated in the West Central District Cross Country Championship meet and earned a spot in the WIAA State Championship meet. He placed fifth at the WIAA State Meet in the Boys Ambulatory Race finishing the 2-mile course in 16:22.40. Jalen earned a varsity letter last year in track & field and placed second in the Ambulatory 100 yard dash and fifth in the Ambulatory 400 yard dash. Jalen is a positive contributor to our school as scholar-athlete that always gives his best effort, a good friend for his classmates and is enjoyable to be around.
