Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for May 6: Sochetrapagna Keo

Decatur senior is tied for second place in school’s pole vault history.

Decatur High School senior Sochetrapagna “Pagna” Keo, track and field, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for May 6.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: My favorite subject in school is math.

Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: One of my hobbies is to cook because I really enjoy eating.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: There are many people in my life that help m e succeed, but the person who helped me succeed the most would be my cross country coach and English teacher, Matthew Paterra.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?

A: Life is just like a race: if you have a bad start, it doesn’t mean you can’t finish strong. Everything has its time, you just have to continue until you reach that time.

Q: Describe your pre-meet ritual:

A: My pre-meet ritual is pretty simple, but effective. I make sure I warm up properly, and have lots of water before and during my competition to stay hydrated, then hope for the best possible outcome.

Q: What’s your favorite post-meet meal?

A: Korean BBQ and boba.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “Just a Cloud Away” by Pharrell Williams.

From the sidelines: Decatur senior Sochetrapagna “Pagna” Keo is completing his fourth year in the Decatur High School Track & Field program. He recently cleared 12 feet in pole vault now in a tie for second place in Decatur’s history in that event. Pagna also set a personal record (PR) in long jump in our last NPSL meet. He has also been a four-year participant in Cross Country. Pagna has excelled in the classroom earning a 3.863 cumulative Grade Point Average as a full-time Running Start student.
