Decatur High School’s Sampson Mitchell, boys wrestling, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for March 1.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: U.S. history.
Q: What other activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
A: Football and video games.

A: Decatur boys wrestling head coach Tevyn Tillman.
Q: Do you have a pregame/competition ritual or postgame tradition, and what is it?
A: No, I just jump around and pray.

A: “Under My Skin” by Frank Sinatra.
From the sideline: Junior Sampson Mitchell represented the Decatur High School boys wrestling team at the 2019 WIAA 4A Mat Classic tournament. He qualified for state after finishing in the sub-regionals tournament. Sampson was the highest finisher from the boys wrestling team, earning sixth place in the 220-pound weight class. Sampson is a three-year letter winner in wrestling. In the fall, he played on the football team. Sampson is on a college prep pathway, which includes Advanced Placement courses.
