Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Jan. 21: Vaughn Weems

Federal Way High School junior Vaughn Weems, basketball, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Jan. 21.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Science.

Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: Basketball, drawing and video games.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My mom, Lateka Williams.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?

A: ““Stay focused,” from my grandpa.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual and your favorite post-game meal?

A: Pre-game ritual: Wipe my hands on my jersey, tap my number and point to the sky. Post-game meal: Pizza.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “Bring The Hook” by YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

From the sidelines: Federal Way High School junior Vaughn Weems is well deserving of this Athlete of the Week recognition. His work ethic and commitment is evident in his play. What I am even more proud to acknowledge watching Vaugh bloom in his maturity with his approach to daily practice and leadership as a captain on and off the court.
