Decatur High School senior Tarai Williams, basketball, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Feb. 11.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: Science.
Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
A: I enjoy painting and other arts and crafts projects.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My coach Jeffrey Forbes and my mom.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?
A: To set the tone at practice or games and over-communicate as a leader.
Q: Describe your pre-game ritual and your favorite post-game meal?
A: Pre-game ritual: Going to put up shots before the game and listening to Coldplay. Post-game meal: Either pasta or pizza.

From the sidelines: Decatur High School senior Tarai Williams has been a leader of the boys basketball team both on and off the court. He is the team captain. Last week, Tarai tallied 40 points in the Gator victory over Auburn Riverside. He also has participated in Decatur’s football and boys soccer programs for three seasons. Tarai was selected to the All-NPSL football team this fall. In the classroom, Tarai has a rigorous college prep course schedule including Advanced Placement courses. He is planning on attending college and playing football or basketball. Tarai is also involved in DECA (Business Marketing Club) at Decatur and is preparing for a regional event that will qualify him for state level competition.
