Todd Beamer High School freshman Aissata Bangoura, wrestling, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for March 4.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: My favorite subject in school is English. I love how it drives me to explore interesting topics and be analytical.
Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
A: I really enjoy reading, hanging out with my family and sleeping.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My brother Tibou, he give me great advice about sports and life. I also really look up to my other brothers Al and Sekou.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?
A: To really trust in your ability and skills, and focus on performing with them. Overthinking and doubting your self will betray you in the long run, but the work you put in to better your skills won’t!
Q: Describe your pre-game ritual and your favorite post-game meal?
A: Pre-game ritual: I’m always visualizing before a game, it helps me focus. Post-game meal: My mom cooks the best meals after a good, so it would have to be my mom’s cooking.
Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?
A: “Junya” by Kanye West.
From the sidelines: TBHS freshman Aissata Bangoura has participated in volleyball and wrestling, making it to the WIAA State Wrestling Championship Meet as a ninth grader. She also excels in the classroom carrying a 4.0 GPA. Aissata deserves to be athlete of the week because she consistently has a positive attitude, an incredible work ethic, and keeps her team focused during practice. Throughout the season, Aissata showed great sportsmanship, win or loss, and always strives to improve. She will now bring her talents to Todd Beamer’s track and field team this spring.
