Decatur High School senior Marissa Nagode, gymnastics, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for Feb. 11.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: AP Literature.
Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
A: Spending time with friends, going to concerts and baking.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My parents.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?
A: To visualize my routines, don’t overthink it and have fun.
Q: Describe your pre-meet ritual and your favorite post-meet meal?
A: Pre-meet ritual: Listen to music. Post-meet meal: Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.

From the sidelines: Decatur High School senior Marissa Nagode has competed in the All-Around (Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam, and Floor exercises) for all of Decatur’s NPSL gymnastics meets. Her outstanding performance has placed her in the top of all NPSL gymnasts. Marissa is one of Decatur’s team captains who has built a team atmosphere that encourages growth fostering peak performances for all individuals. This team effort has been the difference in Decatur’s team victories this season. She is a four-year letter winner, with a previous highlight of performing with her team at the WIAA 4A State Championship meet her sophomore season. She is hard-working, kind, dedicated and leads by example. Marissa is also a leader in the classroom earning a 4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average. This includes six Advanced Placement courses in English, social studies and math.
