Decatur High School senior Emma McLaughlin, bowling, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for Dec. 17.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: Band.
Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
A: Aviation and playing with my dog, Mari!
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My parents have pushed me to continue even when I didn’t think I could accomplish something. They made me believe in myself.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?
A: “Follow through. Finish whatever you started and do it well.”
Q: Describe your pre-game ritual and your favorite post-game meal?
A: My pre-game ritual is to take deep breaths and think positive thoughts. My favorite post-game meal is definitely anything with chicken.
Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?
A: ““It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas” by Michael Bublé.
From the sidelines: Decatur senior Emma McLaughlin has been a consistent high scorer on varsity bowling team. She is currently averaging 147 pins per game. Emma has also excelled in her role of captain this season. Her positive attitude and dedication to improve her performance as well as her teammates has built trust of teammates and coach to lead the team. She has also participated in Decatur High School swim & dive and fastpitch programs. Emma has earned a 3.928 Cumulative Grade Point Average. She has achieved this as full-time Running Start scholar on track to earn her high school diploma and associates degree in June.
