Decatur High School sophomore Alosina “Sina” Fuiava, fastpitch, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for April 8.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: My favorite class is AP Seminar.
Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?
A: In my free time, I like to read while listening to music.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: The person who has helped me the succeed the most is my old coach, Coach Jeff Wagner, because he helped me get into softball and didn’t give up on me when I gave up on myself.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?
A: “Never feel too high and never feel too low, always stay in the middle.”
Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?
A: “Vibin’ Out” by FKJ.
From the sidelines: In the middle of her second season, DHS sophomore Sina Fuiava has risen as a leader in our fastpitch program. She is feared by opposing pitchers and communicates defensive adjustments in the field. In the last week, the Lady Gators are 2-0 as Sina added 2 home runs and 15 runs batted in. As a freshman, she was selected to the NPSL All-League First Team at first base. Sina has also excelled in the classroom earning a 3.522 cumulative Grade Point Average. Enrolled in three Advanced Placement courses, she is preparing herself to continue both her academic and athletic pursuits after high school.
Sina participates on a select fastpitch team that travels to play the best competition in tournaments all over the West Coast.
