Thomas Jefferson freshman girls wrestler Goddess Ma’alona-Faletogo was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 11 to Feb. 18.

Despite being blind, Ma’alona-Faletogo had dreams of competing for a state championship at some point. After a 17-9 record this season, her dream came true as she was selected to compete for a state championship as a member of the 225-pound weight class.

She was victorious in her match by pin fall on Feb. 17, giving her an opportunity to compete for a state championship the next day, but Ma’alona-Faletogo went two-and-out, Feb. 18.

“I think she was excited to be there,” Jefferson coach Harvey Cole said. “She didn’t surprise us. We expected her to be there. Her fan base there was unbelievable. She’s such a rock star for us.”
